WHY ARE ALL THE LIGHTWORKERS MOVING TO LA?

lightworkers moving to LA on The Numinous

So what’s the real reason behind the mass exodus from cities like NYC to LA? You’ve noticed it, right? How the lightworker tribe are all feeling the call?

Well, it’s no coincidence that people are packing up their overpriced apartments, saying farewell to the brutal winters, and moving to the magical City of Angels. In fact, many of the Numinati made the move years ago, and now more of our tribe are arriving in waves.

When I heard the call of my soul to move to Los Angeles, I had no idea that I would be part of a major movement. I was not consciously aware that there was a deep reason for the work I was being called to do here, nor did I understand the energetic force by which it happened at this particular time in space.

It all makes sense to me now. If you, too, have been feeling a voice inside calling you West, what I’ve learned since my move may explain why – and in a radical way.

In April 2015, I was visiting my girlfriends in Malibu and I remember the precise moment, sitting on the beach, my soul clearly demanded: “Come home.” I had never lived in California, nor had I ever heard a voice inside as strong as this.

But I was not afraid. I listened.

The voice continued: “Move to Venice in the Fall.” So specific and commanding, right? I dared not question it, even though I had only been to Venice a few times for Kundalini classes at Ra Ma Institute with Guru Jagat, and for nourishment at Moon Juice and Cafe Gratitude.

But over the past several years, I have recognized my intuitive gifts and learned that in order to stay in alignment, I MUST TRUST this deep knowing.

And something inside me insisted that this was exactly where I needed to be. So I set about transitioning all my yoga classes and clients in New York, seamlessly found a friend to take over my lease, and effortlessly slipped out of my old life to plant myself in Venice Beach – the epicenter of the Now Age. And now that I’m here, I feel grounded and aligned.

So, back to why are we being called to LA, why should we trust the pull, and what’s next for us fearless souls who have listened to our spirit’s deepest longing.

Here are FOUR reasons that may help it all make it crystal clear.

Nicolas Jandrain on The Numinous

1. We are being called to return to our Aphrodite – our pure, liberated Feminine.

New York City is literally on a grid – when you see the city from the air, the avenues and streets are angular and the buildings are close together. It’s tough to see the wide open sky unless you’re at the top of a skyscraper or in the middle of Central Park. We pound our feet on concrete and have little connection to the bare, soft, fertile earth. For most of the year, our feminine form is bundled in layers, and the sun has only a small window to kiss our bare skin.

Living in any city, we’re disconnected from the Earth, Air, Moon and tides – which in turn influence our moon cycles, our creativity, and manifestation capabilities.

When our creative expression is stifled, we become tight, rigid, stressed, and stagnation takes over our physical bodies. Living this way demands we’re dominated by our masculine energy – and it’s hard to keep up. Our adrenals burn out. We grow tired of being Wonder Woman – one of Dana James’ female archetypes – in the city that never sleeps. Rather, our hearts are longing to dance under the moonlight. We know we will rise in our true power when we feel grounded with the earth under our bare feet.

Nicolas Jandrain on The Numinous

2. We got chewed up and spat out, and now our souls are strong enough to handle the work ahead.

Our souls brought us to cities like New York to do some major work on our karmic path. Our soul contracts had very specific lessons and experiences to learn in order to do the light work we were born in this incarnation to deliver.

New Yorkers have grit. New Yorkers are tough. We had to be, to get through the brutal winters, hurricanes, floods, terrorism, city noise, and commutes. And our souls had to practice becoming strong enough to do the major work that we are about to do in LA – influencing some of the brightest, most powerful, creative, receptive people in the world to step up to change the future of our planet.

So what is this work? Our world is suffering from the bankruptcy of love – we are living in a time of immense poverty, suffering, terrorism, abuse, and fear. It is our work to bring light to this planet through our creative leadership. We must be strong and clear in our own bodies otherwise, this difficult work can leave us feeling hopeless and depleted.

But first, we need some time to play. To retreat. To rest, rejuvenate, and restore. Once we have brought ourselves back into balance, we will have the clarity and vitality to do some major work as the next generation of visionaries on this planet.

3. We’re feeling the pull of the 33rd parallel (Allow me to explain…)

In heeding the call to LA, lightworkers are being called to congregate around the 33rd parallel – an energy vortex which happens to run through Venice Beach. You may know that in numerology, 33 is considered a Master Number and symbolizes the Christ Consciousness. The 33rd degree is highest publicly known degree for Freemasonry, and some say it signifies illumination and freedom from religious dogma. In Hinduism, Yoga Sutra 3:33 states: “Through keenly developed intuition, everything can be known.” And the Tibetan Book of the Dead speaks of the thirty-three heavens ruled over by Indra, and the thirty-three ruled over by Mara.

Furthermore, the latitude of the 33rd degree is shared with the ancient city of Babylon and by modern day Baghdad. The longest continually inhabited city in the world, Damascus, in Syria, is also on this line. The site of the first atomic bombing during WWII, in Nagasaki, Japan, also resides on the 33 parallel, and coincidently, so does the White Sands Testing Range in New Mexico, where the atom bomb was first tested. This geo-latitudinal line also passes through what is known as the “Bermuda Triangle” in the Atlantic Ocean.

So, clearly, there is something very powerful about the energy vortex around the 33rd parallel! And in essence, the quality of the 33rd parallel is that it shifts our energy more effectively and quickly. But looking at the history, it’s also clear that this has been utilized by some pretty dark forces – and now the lightworkers are moving to readdress the balance.

Nicolas Jandrain on The Numinous

4. Our soul family is waiting for us.

To do the work we were born to, we need the support of our tribe. I’ve found there’s nothing more influential than a community of brilliant, grounded, strong, connected souls – our “soul clusters” as my dear friend Aimee Follette, chef and founder of Sun in Bloom, so perfectly calls it.

You know that feeling when you meet someone for the first time, but something inside you remembers them, as if you’ve known each other before? That feeling is real. Our souls have contracts with other souls – and we have these soul contracts with all the people we walk with, our parents, friends, business partners, lovers, and children.

The soul contracts of my New York life, including a controlling six-year relationship, showed me the work I needed to do: to heal deep-rooted karmic patterns of insecurity, self-doubt, and the inability to speak my truth. Many of us in New York experienced a similar struggle, freeing ourselves from lineages of insecurity, scarcity mindset, and fear of abandonment.

And having learned the lessons of city life, a tribe of stronger, fierce, liberated souls are reuniting together in Los Angeles.

Not feeling the call to move? That’s okay!

As explained by my teacher Harmonjot Kaur at Ra Ma Institute in Venice, it is important to understand that YOUR soul family will be found wherever you open your soul. “We are moving into a time where we stop looking outside for answers. Moving to LA to find one’s soul family simply because one identifies as a “lightworker” is a recipe for heartbreak I feel. Because wherever one is, that is where the soul family will show itself. And when we make expensive moves looking to satisfy from the outside what can only be satisfied from the inside, we really set ourselves up for great disappointment.”

There’s also a critical need for lightworkers to remain in New York City – since NYC is on an energetic grid that’s very powerful, meaning there’s an opportunity to amplify light work in the city.

And the truth is, we’re all designed to be more energized by different locations, explains Light Maker Cassandra Bodzak. “There are people whose energy field is actually more primed for NYC than LA, or vice versa, or for a different location such as Austin, Miami, or Boulder. You can even get a special astrology chart reading to determine which places on the earth will optimize your energy or deplete you.”

Another disclaimer from Harmonjot: The move to LA alone does not equal automatic self-discovery! “I’m reticent about encouraging people to move to Los Angeles because it’s touted as some kind of promised land. But many people have the illusion that their problems will be solved by coming out here. They likely won’t. Deep spiritual practice is what allows one to find the next step and the next place.”

So, my dears, wherever you feel the call, trust it. Trust your soul. Your soul family. Just as your future self is trusting YOU to heed the call. When you are living in alignment with your soul, you’ll feel home wherever you are. You’ll be in harmony with your body, and from this space of feeling healthy and in the flow, you will be your most creative self, and able to fully show up to do the work you were born to do.

BE AT PEACE: READING FOR THE LIBRA FULL MOON ECLIPSE

The Libra Full Moon Eclipse of March 23 2016 is a cosmic opportunity to take control of our story and our view of the world, says Hannah Ariel.

LIBRA Full Moon Eclipse on The Numinous

“Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it.” –Salvador Dali

Are we having fun yet? Each day since the March 8 Pisces Solar Eclipse we’ve been tested with every experience – to trust that is divinity at work every step of the way. We’ve been asked to ride multiple waves of consciousness at once, to yield to our experiences, and yet not be knocked about by all this transcendental energy into a confusing state of helplessness.

The past two weeks, each one of us has individually endured a very personal journey of self-discovery, as we made our way through the Piscean waters. We’ve been subtly guided to hold more faith in ourselves, in our own life path. And throughout this process, we’ve experienced flashes of visionary magic. All we believed was lost, all that has been obscured from plain sight, is now present.

As the Sun has just entered Aries, we now find ourselves emerging from a deeply mystical communion with this energy. And with a newly found sense of conviction, we are ready to move between worlds; to take a visionary leap from our inner depths, and out into the open with fiery inspired action.

This year, the Spring Equinox is more than just a marker of the seasons, bringing a potent opportunity to find center gravity between the Eclipses. We can always trust lunar eclipses, like those of March 8 and March 23, to bring massive revelations, this week’s Libra Full Moon Eclipse is exceptionally creative. When it comes to serving the future, right now it is about being in alignment – finding the pathway that will bring the many facets of your inner world, out into harmony with the world. This Lunar Eclipse in Libra is your time to Spring forth!

As soon as the sun entered Aries on March 20 it became important to acknowledge a point of view that is your own – a point of fearless enterprise within yourself. Inquire deeply into what this means to you, for the energy of this Libra Full Moon Eclipse is to bring this to life. Remember, the Solar Eclipse in Pisces fell on the South Side of the nodal axis, which meant it was possible to find ourselves going overboard, drowning in the collective, giving away our energy, losing proper boundaries, feeling all sorts of ecstatic highs and disorienting lows asking to be brought into balance.

Conversely, this is a North Node Lunar Eclipse, where anything we feel can actually be channeled, consciously and precisely, into actions that will create a more harmonious future. Going forward, our experiences will be infused with a great sense of relief that we are moving forward, we are finding ourselves with healthy revelations about our storyline. Simply by being true to ourselves.

With this eclipse we are reminded how powerful it is when we can truly meet our genuine self at a soul level, and, enchanted by what we find, move into the future with a sense of utter alignment.

“Textbook” Libra is always at work to experience a form of optimal harmony. Libra views life as a masterpiece, and strives for perfection. And if we are to be mindful of anything we’ve learned the past two weeks, spiritually speaking, our ideas of “perfection” often have little to do with our actual experience of life. Our experiences run far deeper than any such framework can imagine.

And so, this Lunar Eclipse is not quite about being aligned with what looks beautiful from the OUTSIDE but from what truly FEELS right for you from the inside. To draw from your own perspective, from your own insight, is the goal going forward. To find a truth within that everything else can spring forth from. THIS is where true harmony resides, and where life can begin to fulfill you. THIS is the spot to drop the anchor this eclipse season. This is where we have a chance at finding inner peace.

This is also the place where we learn how to truly fulfill our bonafide creativity, which this Libra Full Moon eclipse is also ALL about. Mercury will be conjunct the Sun in Aries offering us inspired, authentic ideas we can confidently move forward with as it will also be fueled by Mars in Sagittarius in positive aspect. Even more crucially, that recognize this is a Venus ruled Lunar eclipse – expect revelatory experience in regard to Venus matters of love, beauty and abundance, particularly the relationship between you and the way you view your life as a divine work of art.

Venus, the ruler of this Full Moon, will be conjunct Neptune just a few days prior. Although Venus has annually made a pass at Neptune since 2011, Neptune has now reached 10 degrees of Pisces for the first time in 200 years. 10 is a number of mastery; it amplifies our ability to use our creative powers to achieve harmony from within ourselves in relation to the world surrounding us. This is an incredible time to consciously give life to unexpressed dreams – the unseen dimensions of your personality that would like to receive more energy.

So get ready to let go of your fantasy of perfection, as this eclipse will shed light on any perspective that does not contribute to your growth. Jupiter in Virgo and Saturn in Sagittarius will also be squaring around this time– there is pressure to really work with what we’ve got, further encouraging us to let go of any fantasies of perfection and get grounded in the day-to-day. Especially in the way we relate to our spiritual self, and the path we are taking on this Earthly plane.

Also for reference, take note: this Eclipse is the last of a two-year cycle, the last Full Moon Eclipse having taken place in Aries on September 27 2015. Think back to what you were feeling compelled to act out on then. Any bells ringing? How is the energy of these events reverberating now? Events since then have all been at work to bring you to this point, to find our how you can begin feeling at peace with yourself.

FINALLY. As soon as we end one relationship we begin another, to ourselves, to our stories, to our lives. This Libra Full Moon eclipse is just the beginning of yet anther re-definition of how we learn to see our lives as a masterpiece, imperfections and all.

MY MYSTICAL LIFE: ECLIPSE SEASON SICKNESS, AND A SUPER WITCHY WEEKEND UPSTATE

Natural highs, a witchy break upstate…and have we all got Eclipse Season sickness?

Ruby Warrington chakra sweatshirt on The Numinous

:: MONDAY ::
Eclipse Season sickness, anyone? It seems like the current cosmic energies are manifesting in some serious purging – two juice dates cancelled yesterday down to people being sick, another friend’s evening ending with three hours in the bathroom, and today’s Skype date about a *very exciting upcoming collaboration (wooooooot!)* relegated to a regular phone call since she was feeling “under the weather” (as in – under the cosmic weather, right?!) My mom (witchy Pisces healer that she is) has always had a theory that colds or any kind of sickness involving mucus etc leaving the body is actually an emotional and energetic clearing. So if you’re feeling it too – social life on lockdown, lots of ginger tea, and just let it all out in the name of your Eclipse Season evolution, babe.

:: TUESDAY ::
A mind-blowingly on point astrology reading with Danielle Paige, author of this excellent piece on the energies of the current Eclipse Season – who, like many astrologers before her, told me that in creating the Numinous I have absolutely stepped into alignment with my soul journey. The message being: if you have a similarly “out there” project burning a hole in your back pocket, DO NOT DELAY any longer in getting it underway. You’re being called! Danielle is also all about the South Node – the part of a birth chart that points to any past life karma you brought into this incarnation to be healed. Mine is in Taurus, sign of Earthly attachments and indulgence, and since the Pisces New Moon Eclipse of March 8 was activating this point, it makes total sense to me that the past two weeks have marked a tipping point in me un-tangling myself from a complicated relationship with alcohol that’s frankly wayyyyy past its sell-by date. LOTS more on this to come, as I see my journey with this particular issue being reflected all around me – and I’m even planning an event for the Aries New Moon of April 7 where we’ll be discussing ways to get high on our OWN supply (no cocktails required). Sign up for our newsletter by clicking the banner below and be the first to get the deets.

:: WEDNESDAY ::
And….we are officially a .com! www.the-numinous.com to be precise. (Oh and I lost a big old bunch of emails in the handover – so if you were trying to get in contact Weds afternoon, your message is floating somewhere in the cyber dimensions and will need resending. Thanks.)

:: THURSDAY ::
In my old magazine editor job, my bathroom cabinet used to be CRAMMED with freebies – and ridiculous as it may sound, walking away from the constant stream of free products was actually one of the hardest things about leaving to go freelance / start The Numinous and step into my soul purpose (see: Taurus South Node problems). It showed how far I’ve come when a PR reached out recently offering some freebies from a brand she reps, and my first question was: “are they natural?” And an even BIGGER marker of my “progress” when I turned them down when she told me no! My reward from the Universe? She put me on to her colleague who looks after French hair care brand Christophe Robin, whose products are infused with “rare or ancestral natural ingredients” (and with no Parabens, sulphates and silicone – if not 100 % chemical free). The message? We get what we demand – and so, as consumers, let’s ALL demand less chemicals in our self-care products and watch the beauty industry at large recalibrate accordingly.

:: FRIDAY ::
Upstate house for the Pisces’s (husband’s) birthday weekend! A) the Universe has been sending me almost daily reminders to connect with nature during this particular Eclipse Season portal (see also Madeline Giles’s Angel Message for March), and B) we managed to find a super witchy-looking abode (see below) on Airbnb, and I basically couldn’t check in fast enough.

HOLY F*CK: IN SEARCH OF A SMILF…

“I want to date a spiritual guy who doesn’t LOOK spiritual, you know?” In the latest installment of her column Holy F*ck, Alexandra Roxo goes in search of a SMILF…

Alexandra Roxo Holy F*ck talking SMILFs on The Numinous

I was recently discussing relationships with my friend Loulou, and I admitted to finally being ready to surrender to my desire for a “spiritual partner” in love and life.

Lou, like many other friends of mine has a diff take on me about this. As I waxed poetic about Hawaiian yoga retreats with a lover she stopped me, saying: “A big block to finding a partner is putting a limit on who they have to be. Whether it’s the type of clothes they wear, or their career – let’s not throw spirituality into the mix, too.” And I toooootally get it. But if we share our spiritual work with our friends how can we not with a partner?

Over the last 15+ years of dating I’ve mostly stayed away from “spiritual types.” I’ve also spent years sneaking out of bed to meditate in bathrooms in the a.m. Praying silently over my food alone. But while keeping your practice sacred and personal can be beautiful, it can also get old. Most people I dated looked at my altars like I was doing voodoo. (Ok fine, there may have been a snake skin and some bones on there from time to time). A few even made fun of my “woo” at dinner parties – and, well, we DID NOT last.

In my show Be Here Nowish my character Sam goes to a Spiritual Speed Dating event at a place based on Maha Rose in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. After a few too many guys wearing patchouli offer to take her back to their place for an “aura photo” she says to her bestie Nina: “I wanna date a spiritual dude. But not a guy who looks spiritual, you know?”

Since I wrote this line I MEANT IT at the time, and have been casually “researching” this “species” ever since. My findings? There’s the spiritual guy who meditates, but still wants to call you a slut in bed. (Over it.) The spiritual guy who is spiritual by day and does molly all night. (I think this one is called “Burner”?) Then there’s the spiritual guy who dresses in all linen and calls your cooch a yoni. (I may be okay with this, but pls know I may giggle and will DEF group text all my friends about it.)

But I have faith that the “spiritual dude” who isn’t drowning in hemp and OM bumper stickers is out there – and here are 10 of my fave SMILFS to prove it! By SMILF I mean “Spiritual Masculine Identified Person I’d Like to…Follow!” Because following someone and their work and passions is a great way to “get to know them” right?

So thank you, SMILFS, for giving us hope in a world where finding someone vaguely attractive to date that also inspires your spiritual path can feel harder than doing 10 days of Vipassana followed by the Master Cleanse!

Kyle Gray on The Numinous

:: Kyle Gray ::
Okay, any man that works with Angels wins my heart. Enough reason to FOLLOW. Loulou just got me his book and I’m excited to read it. Not only does Kyle have the most adorable Scottish accent and is a one of few out queer spiritual teachers, but he is also covered in inspirational tattoos and obsessed with Vivienne Westwood.

Jesse Israel on The Numinous

:: Jesse Israel ::
I found out about Jesse through my friend Steph Simbari and her podcast with Elizabeth Kott “That’s so retrograde” where she talked to him about his project The Modern Man Experiment which I think is important work. Jesse also organizes HUGE and hip group meditations and things and I’m excited to see what’s next from him.

Nick Krieger on The Numinous

:: Nick Krieger ::
Nick is a trans/queer activist, writer, and coach with goals of de-colonizing and queer-ifying yoga. (Praise Goddess!) He won my heart with this article. He also wrote a book called “Nina Here nor There” about his journey with gender.

Light Watkins on The Numinous

:: Light Watkins ::
I discovered Light when he taught meditation to someone I dated who then kept saying: “Oh Light this and Light that.” I may have unfollowed that person on social media, BUT in turn I followed Light! Besides his obvious physical beauty, Light brings Vedic meditation to the masses and has cute snapchats featuring his pug.

Michael Trainer on The Numinous

:: Michael Trainer ::
Michael founded the incredible Global Citizen project and has a new project called Peak Mind. I happened to go to his gathering in LA and witness his devotion to the Dalai Lama and how he is helping the planet with an open heart. Very genuine stuff.

spiritual stoner on The Numinous

:: Spiritual Stoner ::
I may have quit marijuana for now, but it doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate this guy. My friend Carlen Altman intro-ed me to his insta when I was in a “conspiracy theory/illuminati K-hole” last winter in NY. Radical Instagram activism is the real deal and his posts range from poignant anti-racism memes, veganism support, worshipping women as Goddess incarnate, conspiracy theory reveals…The kinda stuff I could geek out for hours on.

MichaelD

:: Michael Domitrovich ::
Michael claims to help make “The power of the Spiritual plane as accessible as a bag of chips!” That’s kind of light worker I gravitate towards- anyone who isn’t afraid to use junk food in a metaphor! He uses all kinds of modalities and teachings and does a lot of workshops in LA and NYC.

Ryan Cropper on The Numinous

:: Ryan Cropper ::
Ryan does real fun work, deep but with just enough esoteric to keep things fun and not too woo woo: astral projection courses, shadow integration, memory improvement and more, all with a cute British accent and a great YouTube channel.

Patrick Beach on The Numinous

:: Patrick Beach ::
His Instagram feed speaks for itself. What else can I say about a shirtless hot man in various yoga poses? “Thank you” and “You’re welcome” are the only words I have.

Forrest 44 on The Numinous

:: Forrest 44 ::
Okay, so we may have no idea what this dude’s REAL name, is BUT his Instagram feed is full of Goddess and Nature imagery AND he makes beautiful crystal pendants and rings. Big blue eyes, crystal grids, and visionary art?! Sign me up.

For all of us single ladies I will leave you with the wise Miss Lou said as we finished our coconut “Cream Party” juices: “How about you just choose to seek out a partner who has a practice of love. They might get high from joy when watching their favorite sports team, connect to mother earth via love for their dog.”

I LOVE that, and she is right. However! I’m not giving up on my fantasies of meditating naked in Bali and getting matching Archangel Michael tattoos with someone yet. A girl can dream, right?

I want to hear your opinion! Are you looking for a SMILF? Do you have one to add here? Or are you in a spiritual partnership? Please write in the comments your story with any SMILFS! I’m going to go deeper into this next month and interview some of my fave conscious couples so stay tuned…

CASTING MY SPELL: CONFESSIONS OF A WHITE WITCH

“I see writing as a spell, decorating my home as a spell, singing as a spell. Whenever I express myself I am casting MY spell.” Shaheen Miro shares what it means to grow up and embrace being a white witch…

IMAGE1

I have always had an intimate connection to the unseen – as a child I could feel the pulse of magic in the world around me. I spent my time wandering through the shadows of trees, marveling at the menagerie of creatures forming, looming, and dancing on the ground around me. I gathered stones, flowers, and found objects to create charms for change and good fortune. I spent my time talking to invisible forces…the spirit of the river, the rocks, and my little calico cat.

A little fairy on the edge of dreamland, roaming between worlds, and unraveling mysteries, sometimes I found myself lost, and confused by things I could not put into words. The loneliness of abandoned buildings made my spine tingle, and spirits of the dead danced in and out of my awareness – difficult things for a child to articulate.

My mother and grandmother were my advocates. Strong, beautiful women with big hearts, strong hands, they were brave witches who honored this path, and these gifts.

And so we explored the tangles of nature together. Singing with the plants, and soaking up the light of the moon. My grandmother always spoke of angels as divine helpers who could be called upon at any time, and my mother gave me the gift of the Tarot as a small child – her way of helping me cultivate and hone my blooming psychic abilities.

To some, my story may sound fantastical, the musings of a child captivated by fairytale visions. But all myths are rooted in reality, and I’ve simply always been aware that magic is alive and well in the “real” world.

As such, I never “grew out” of my exploration of the mystical world. I learned to read between the lines, to see the space beyond the eyes. In every moment, in every situation, and in every person, I can see a bead of magic. How we are all made of the same light and shadows – divine beings on an arduous and essentially liberating earth-walk journey.

IMAGE2

I have found magic in books, in stories, and in art, and my life has become a pilgrimage to reclaim the folds of the mystical world, while remaining grounded here in the physical. Because this is where magic has the most power.

To quote Stevie Nicks (a weaver of spells through songs): “The stars are apart of us.” Witches know the ebb and flow of the Moon, and we hone and honor this powerful tide of energy in the understanding that we are equal parts spirit and flesh. Our bodies know the grace of the seasons, and the tides of the Moon, and when we channel this energy we become super-powered.

As such, the Moon has always been my muse and my teacher. I spend time soaking in her milky light. I talk to her, expressing my deepest wishes, and my heaviest regrets. My mother and I wander out into the landscapes of the moon and light candles in honor of her light and glory. The moon has become a portal to our inner world, and even when we are apart we know that the Moon connects our souls.

How else do I live it?

There is nothing like wrapping myself in an aura of black chiffon, and letting my wings catch the wind as I spin and spin in the moonlight. A little white witch taking flight into the mystical; transcending my body, and moving through time. I feel alive in the cool hush of the night. Night sounds are prayers that awaken the soul. Witches know the night holds mysteries, and so they seek refuge in her subtle energy.

And the white witch knows the power of magic lies in the ability to evoke what is cradled within. Spells become nothing more than a rhythm of expressing and exploring intention. We mingle with, and call upon the latent potential of objects. Calling on the spirit of botanicals, igniting the influence of candles, and mingling with the essence of crystals.

The Shadow self has also become a teacher for me – for there are gifts to be found here, in the parts that are suppressed, feared, and therefore unacknowledged. When you reach into the dark, you can pull out treasures and heal what’s stuck. So when I encounter the dark, I try to communicate with it. To see what my Shadow Self has to say.

IMAGE3

I call myself a White Witch, because I know I am the night and the day. I seek to understand the dark, rather than fear it. To do this, I must know and honor my intuition, seeking out the patterns of the Universe unfolding around me. In omens, cards, and tea leaves. And it’s when I ignore the messages that I find myself falling off kilter.

This is why owning the word “witch” is an act of power. Sometimes it can feel easier to grow numb to the whispers of the magical world. To put your head down, and do what you are told. To act “normal.” But you are not living if you are not expressing, and you are not expressing if you are not telling the whole story. So now I find my power in being “different” – and stepping into the flow of my eccentricities.

For me, witchcraft is a way of life, an inborn desire to truly live. This also means following my creative impulses as an act of scared communion. I see writing as a spell, decorating my home as a spell, singing as a spell. Whenever I express myself I am casting MY spell.

This applies to all the powerful ones, the thought leaders, the rebels, the eccentrics, the artists. The ones who operate in the Earthly realms from a deep seated desire to bring their inner world to life. Magic asked them to channel their vision into being. All they needed was to be their unique expression. And the world changed because of it.

Witches know they do not have to explain their doings. They just do what feels right. Whatever feeds their spirit. And since this takes real bravery, witches don’t do well with fear.

SENSITIVE SOUL: WORK WITH YOUR PISCES MOON SIGN

Understand your Pisces moon sign and maximize your self-care practice to be the best YOU, says Ash Bonelli. Artwork: Prince Lauder via Behance.net

Prince Láuder on The Numinous

“My heart is ever at your service.” – William Shakespeare

If you were born with a Pisces moon sign, then this one is for you, dear hearts. Our moon is our emotional headquarters. It alerts us to our deepest feelings and we express it in our knee-jerk reactions. It shows us how we nurture and how we wish to be cared for in return. Our lunar landscape is an often private land that we only fully reveal to those we trust most  and the Pisces moon sign is a particularly tender one.

You believe in compassion and kindness – often referred to as too sensitive and emotionally weak. You may have experienced people telling you to box up those gushing feelings as you walk through this intense world, or you will just get hurt even more. But suppressing your truth is never a good thing. You were born with a big, sweet, all feeling heart and frankly, more of which we so dearly need in our often detached world. You naturally radiate a light for humanity that allows others to easily trust you. Possessing the ability to really listen without judgment helps you to move through the world with intuitive ease.

Work out your moon sign, when you do you chart for free here.

You can be an idealist in love – because your heart space LOVES to love. Which also means harsh realities can really sting you deeper than others. You probably have the tendency to give “too much” of yourself, which in turn can set you up for other people taking advantage of your sweet little disposition. But since you’ve been blessed with an intuitive heart you have the ability to know when your tank is running on near to flat out empty. You have to give back to yourself so you can be recharged enough to give again.

Letting also comes naturally to you – letting go of that which you can’t control. It’s a slippery slope though with the Pisces moon sign though, because sometimes you let go too often. You may have the tendency to let someone off of the hook for something you need to confront them about, just so you can go on being the nicest person everyone knows. You’ll forgive before you rock the boat – but only to keep the peace. Working on discerning when it’s appropriate to move on because the situation really isn’t worth fighting over, and situations that require some discussion, examination, and / or healing.

Below are some wellness suggestions to assist as you get to know your delicate Pisces moon sign.

:: GROUNDING PRACTICE ::
The Pisces moon sign can sometimes have a bit of a savior complex. You feel your feelings so deeply – often along with everyone else’s. You hate to see someone suffering so you will go to great lengths to help out however you can. This is beautiful but not if it comes at the expense of your quota of support for your own soul.

Create a grounding practice by learning to say “no” more often. Actively notice how often you feel depleted and see if you can cut back on the areas of your life that are draining you. Are you overcommitting your time? Do you say yes to things just so you won’t hurt someone’s feelings? Write a list of all your activities for each day for a month and put a checkmark by the ones that made you feel down/sluggish. See if you can cut those out.

Sometimes we get into such a comfortable habit that we don’t even realize it’s an issue until we literally see it on paper. You also want to set up healthy boundaries. One way is by being selective about the company that you keep. If they don’t bring positivity to the table and you just feel heavier after visiting with them, then their energy are toxic for you. Time to weed the garden! You want only roses of hope in that yard, and it’s up to you to plant wisely.

:: SHIELDS UP ::
Your heart experiences life via feelings, and those feelings become your thoughts, so the last thing you want is everybody else’s negativity clouding up your judgment. Being a natural sympathy sponge you want to be mindful to ward off any vibes you don’t need in your bubble!

Each morning, either in bed before you start your day or while taking a shower, imagine shimmering golden light surrounding you from above your head to below your feet. Let the feeling of completeness engulf you. Take enjoyment in your breath and try not to think of anything other than your own personal ease and calm. Take at least one minute to do this practice.

This is so simple and effective because when you start to feel something negative in your day you can come back to the sensation of serenity that you created earlier. If it really is the bad vibes of other people or places then this centering practice should suffice. If you are still feeling off kilter, these could be your own genuine feelings. In which case it’s up to you to feel deeper into your situation and tend to the issue as needed.

:: ESCAPE ARTIST ::
The Pisces moon sign can sometimes avoid confrontational issues in order to keep things copacetic. While sweet in theory it’s bad energy to carry. Plus it can create a karma ripple you certainly don’t want showing up later. So you need to create boundaries by proactively planning ahead if you are entering a situation that could turn negative.

Practice what you would say. Visualize the upcoming conversation, but try a different response each time. How do you physically feel with each answer? The one that closes you down and makes you curl inwards is the one you don’t want. The one that gives that sensation of light, expansive openness is the winner.

If it’s a situation where the gross feeling option is the right thing to do, then take time to find a way to move forward in the kindest way possible. Sometimes you have to rip the band-aid off to let the wound heal. Know in your heart that you are doing the right thing and let the feeling of truth be the balm to any fear that arises.

:: RESTORATIVE YOGA ::
When thing get too much and it’s time to get back to yourself, you need the desserts of the asana world in your life. I suggest doing these poses when you feel sad, depleted or stressed to revive your spirits and help your heart feel nourished from within.

Supported Bound Angle Sitting in easy pose, draw the soles of your feet together to touch. Take a block under each knee. Take your hands behind you and slowly lay down on your back. Take a folded blanket and place it under your head (if you find that to be more supportive). Let your arms relax to your sides with the palms up. Relax your whole body and rest for five minutes. To finish, bring your feet as wide as your mat and let your knees fall in. Rest here for a few more moments.

Supine Twist Come to your back and draw your knees into your chest. Take a deep inhale and on the exhale drop both knees over to the right. Take your arms out to the sides like wings. Take your gaze to the left. With each inhale allow your spine to lengthen and your belly to fully expand. On the exhale allow your body to twist deeper. Stay here for two minutes and then inhale the knees back to center. Exhale and repeat on the opposite side. In this detoxifying twist, use your breath to emotionally release anything holding you back from moving forward with your goals.

Legs up the wall Come over to a wall space and sit down next to it with one hip against the wall.  As you start to lay down on your back simultaneously begin to walk your feet up the wall until the legs are straight towards the ceiling – and your body is on the floor at a right angle to your legs. The knees can have a slight bend and if you want extra support take a block or blanket under your hips. Your hips and seat should be touching the wall so inch your way as close as you can. Just rest your arms out to your sides or on your belly/heart. Close your eyes and feel yourself relaxing. Stay here up to 15 minutes.

Keep space, move with grace & continue your healing work. From those places, your Pisces moon sign will feel content.

TEMPLE OF VENUS: CRAFTS TO CONNECT TO YOUR INNER CHILD

Elyssa Jakim’s monthly Temple of Venus column returns with some crafting inspiration to connect to your inner child this Pisces season. PLUS: a bonus video featuring a love potion!

Connect to your inner child with Elyssa Jakim temple of venus on The Numinous

It’s Spring! Well, almost. And I don’t know about you, but with the current swell of deep Pisces feelings I’m ready for creative play – and all I want to do is craft.

Over the last year, I have crafted more than since I was a scrap-booking sixteen-year-old. Teaching at Fairy School (an after school program for connecting children to their magic), I found myself making magic wands, fairy houses, bird-feeders, magic necklaces, and it was wondrous. Even cuter was how many of the parents exhibited a desire to craft too. “I want to go to Fairy School!” they’d say.

This is a perfect illustration of how crafting helps you connect to your inner child; to a sense of play and wonder. Crafting slows us down, asking us to consider just how sparkly that bead is, just how cuddlesome this fabric feels. It’s a meditative mindful practice that’s also easy and fun. Crafting invites us to re-enter our childhood mindset and to view each moment through innocent eyes.

This summer, Numinous founder Ruby Warrington and I created the Temple of Venus, a space that created room to explore the feminine. An essential component of this space was craft. We held flower crown and silk dying workshops that were full of giggles, music, sharing, and sisterhood. These events filled up, and I saw the women who attended leave with a sense of vigor and playfulness.

Healer Camilla Blossom Bishop pointed out to me that when we do craft projects, we nurture a deep feminine part of ourselves – our womb space, which is the seat of creativity in the body. Venus loves this approach to connecting to the unadulterated feminine essence, but it’s wonderful for men too, because we all hold feminine and masculine polarities inside of us. Even better, crafting is also a great way to get to know others, because you bond on a deep and innate level.

With that said, here are some easy-peasy, aesthetically pleasing, joyful and invigorating craft projects for you to try at home!

:: MAGIC WANDS ::

You will need:

  • Sticks (small pieces of driftwood are nice)
  • Glitter
  • Wood glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Thick paper such as cardstock

The magic wand is a Fairy School staple. This technique was invented by Maha Rose founder and Fairy School Teacher Lisa Levine and these wands will have you connected to your inner elemental in no time (the photo below is of the beautiful wands she makes).

Put the wood glue in an easy-access container like a glass jar (this way you can save and reuse it easily). Brush glue onto your stick in a stripe around the wood, starting at one end of the stick. Fold your cardstock in half and hold it underneath the stick you as a glitter catcher. Pick a color of glitter and sprinkle the glitter on the glued portion. Pick up your folded paper, gathering up the glitter that has fallen onto it, and siphon it back into the container. This saves a lot of glitter and keeps the colors from mixing. Repeat with another stripe. Repeat. Repeat. If you’d rather go off the grid and not do stripes, you certainly may. You can get extra creative and add strands of beads, feathers, flower petals, or anything else you fancy to your wand.

Note: stray glitter often abounds, so it’s a nice idea to do this craft on a tablecloth or newspaper and to follow up with a vacuum.

:: VISION BOARD ::

You will need:

  • Stack of magazines
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Poster board

Vision boarding is the ultimate girl time activity and a powerful manifestation exercise that gets you in touch with your desires – especially following a New Moon! But whenever I do it, I’m surprised by what my board reveals to me, and I exclaim (inwardly or outwardly): “Oh wow, that’s what I’m desiring right now.” For the vision board is a visual representation of your dreams — the things you want to achieve, obtain, and experience. It’s great to do this with a group of pals and let the love flow.

Start by flipping through the magazines and pulling images you feel drawn to. Then cut these into pleasing shapes and glue them down to your poster board. As I learned from Sara Goff who runs a group called Vision Board Soiree, there are two ways to do this:

1. Pull intuitively whatever images make you feel really good.
2. Know what you want on your board and look for those images.

Most people will find themselves tending toward 1 or 2 (1 Is more Ying, 2 Is more Yang). Make a conscious effort to mix up these two techniques and see what happens. You can also announce to your friends what you’re looking for – “I want a yacht!” – and have them help find it (this asks you to speak your desires aloud). You can also suggest an image to someone if you feel like it’s for them. This way, everyone interacts with each other’s boards.

If you get an image that’s almost right but you’re not sure, dump it. You gotta LOVE it like those perfect jeans. When your boards are completed, share them with one another, discussing your experiences and discoveries. I once did this with a bunch of art students and it was like a mini art history critique, but the most positive, supportive crit in history!

:: MERMAID RATTLE ::

You will need:

  • Small glass container with lid
  • Little bells
  • Yarn
  • Beads, shells, crystals, glitter, and any other things that you find pretty

Nature spirits (mermaids, unicorns, angels, fairies, dragons, gnomes) love when we sing to them, and this rattle will give your song an extra dose of magic. I just made one of these babies last week in a water healing gathering held by Camilla Blossom Bishop. Ours were mermaid themed, but you can use them for any element or elemental.

You can get creative with your container. Light blue and clear are nice, but even a salt shaker will do. Open the container you chose. Put beautiful tiny objects like beads, shells, crystals, glitter, feathers, and any other pretty things inside, but leave some space for them to move around. Shake as you go to assess the sound it creates, and adjust to your liking. Now close the lid tight. Tie a piece of yarn around the shaker at lid level and tie bells onto the ends. Send a loving intention to connect with nature spirits into your shaker. Behold, you are ready to rattle and roll!

:: MORE CRAFTY RESOURCES ::

If you’re looking to make a professional Flower Crown, check out my girl Rawan Rihani, founder of Aurora Botanica. She led a workshop at the Temple of Venus, teaching us that nothing feels more luxurious than a bed of fresh flowers in your hair—and it smells so good too! Okay I’m gushing.

Cara Marie Piazza is a genius of silk and dye-ing materials, and her workshop at the Temple of Venus knocked our socks off too. Silk and flowers together spell sensual feminine paradise and Cara’s joy for the art is infectious. Plus, the things she creates and teaches us to make are unspeakably beautiful.

And for something even more delicious, Alexandra Roxo and I give you two very simple recipes for love with this Valentines Video: featuring a love potion and raw chocolates.

REDEMPTION SONG: READING FOR THE PISCES NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE

Use your imagination and go with the flow of the Universe – it is a Pisces New Moon, after all, says Hannah Ariel.

Pisces new moon 2016 write up on The Numinous

“You must conceive of possibilities beyond your present state if you are to be able to find the capacity to reach toward them” – Idries Shah

The Pisces New Moon of March 8 is not simply opening a door for our intentions – it will be a New Moon Solar Eclipse; a powerful moment of accelerated evolution. This one lands us in the deep deep sea of 19 degrees Pisces, just a few degrees away from the South Node at 21 degrees, also in Pisces. In Astrology, Eclipses always take place near the nodes of the moon – the elliptical plane where past and future storylines collide.

During a South Node Solar Eclipse, the moon meets up with the south node and experiences its lunar energy in reception to solar energy. From planet Earth, we experience this exchange as a powerful portal that transcends linear time, and orbits us right into our future potential – the story we long to step into.

A Solar eclipse is a magnificent and mysterious phenomenon that opens our psyche to a whole new paradigm. A solar eclipse in Pisces? This is an act of redemption.

Pisces is represented by two fish ever moving between worlds in an infinite conception of possibility. Yes, they go with the flow; yes, they fluidly embrace wherever the tide may take them. But the energy of Pisces can bring forth huge waves of creative potential from the depths of our unconscious experience.

Pisces season is always a time to take notice of what wordlessly surfaces from within you. What waves of consciousness are crashing now? What reality have you been subconsciously merged with for so long that you are finally swimming out of it? How are you becoming more aware of your own intuitive understanding of your life story, as if for the first time in ages?

Pisces is a compassionate ocean of deep revelation, and it is only by diving deep into its mysteries that we can know our own instinctual capacity to fully get in touch with the parts of us we long to know better.

During this Pisces New Moon Eclipse, we are karmically being called forth to release and work with what has been building up inside our psyche for goodness knows how long. It’s a portal for stepping boldly into the immensity of our imaginations; to see through the stories of the past that no longer feel right; to reflect, and then recreate our vision for the next six months. There will be a peculiar mysticism to the way this unfolds though, as Pisces ruling planet is Neptune.

It is Neptune’s job to reveal the reality behind the reality; it is dissolution; it is our own subjective processing of our experiences that is veiled even to ourselves. It is the experience we don’t realize we are experiencing until the curtain drops. For the next six months, life will have funny ways of revealing the waves we’ve been subconsciously riding, and how they are actually bringing us to where we need to be.

Jupiter, still in Virgo, will be opposite this moon reminding us that everything is manageable. We expand by taking things one day, one step at a time. The shadow side of Jupiter though can be blowing things out of proportion, so take care to cultivate compassion as you are finding your way. This is not the time to fall victim to circumstance or judge yourself or others for what they believe.

This IS a time to trust that there is a positive and practical way for you to take your experiences, and roll with their teachings in a way that makes sense to you. It may also be a time where we are tempted to self-sabotage – as the South Node can sometimes find us falling into old patterns. In Pisces, this would be old patterns of escaping reality – opposed to working with the deep swells of energy that are being subjectively experienced

Also on the south side of things, is Chiron. Astrologically, Chiron points to where we may feel like we don’t know what we’re doing. It is how we misjudge ourselves, believing we are in some way wounded – that we don’t have what it takes, or we don’t have “enough” in some areas of our lives. We believe – and fall victim to this belief – that we are at a disadvantage somehow.

In Pisces, this may lead us to feel that we are disconnected from the path of our spirit, due to a mistaken belief we are in the wrong place at the wrong time. The greatest shadow of this energy is thinking that we have no true purpose, are forever lost in an abyss of puzzling storylines we just can’t make sense of. So if you feel like you are just slipping through a foggy unreality, hold on!

For Chiron also shows us how we can effectively work to heal ourselves and others – by directly engaging with the very thing that we’re afraid will fail us in some way. So the more we work with what’s coming up, the more we take that positive and practical Jupiter energy and apply it, we have an opportunity to heal our lives beyond recognition. The reality of this Pisces New Moon Solar Eclipse is that we have so much divine experience, having swum through these waters for lifetimes, that we have all the information we need to imagine a way through.

And this Pisces New Moon Eclipse is just the beginning of learning how to use it. So, allow yourself to step into what is coming up at this time in your life, no matter how foreign it feels, no matter how confused you think you are – and use your imagination. Let go of your fear, and like a fish kept safe in water, feel your way into a future storyline with a deep rolling wave of universal trust. Step into this beginning with the sense that everything is unfolding with perfect timing.

A FLORAL TAPPING RITUAL FOR GROUNDING

Just in time for Eclipse Season, Valerie Oula brings the healing power of flowers to a tapping ritual for grounding… Artwork: Karolina Daria Flora

Karolina Daria Flora on The Numinous

There’s a new kid on the holistic healing scene: floral tapping.

During sadhana a few months back, I received the “download” to work with flower essences topically. It’s not often that I get such clear cut, specific instructions from The Universe. And so when this happens, despite any resistance, it feels like I’d better follow through at some point.

And so I’ve been using the flowers in both my private sessions and workshops, and while people aren’t quite sure what’s happening, what they do know is that they feel different. A shift is happening.

Flower essences are the energetic imprint of the flower/tree captured in water. Subtle energy medicine. They do not have a scent and are mixed with grain alcohol or brandy as a preservative. The essences are vibrational remedies that work on the emotional energy body. When we use flower essences, we get attuned to the healing frequency of the flowers – which is essentially about raising our own vibration.

Since this is subtle energy work, it can take some time to recognize the shift that is taking place. It’s not like popping a pill for instant relief – although in this Aquarian age, as more and more of us are waking up and tuning in through energy work and practices like Kundalini Yoga, we may feel the effects faster.

As for floral tapping? It’s a technique that combines these vibrational essences with various tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) modalities. In fact, think of it as EFT – super-charged. By delivering the vibrational essences along several acupuncture points around the ear as we tap, we are loading up on energetic goodness.

And with the swirling energy of Eclipse Season on the way, here’s a grounding floral tapping ritual for extra vibrational support.

Karolina Daria Flora

What You’ll Need

  • A grounding flower essence such as Walnut – which is excellent for grounding and protection, to help with change and transition. Also to be used as a shield during an epic sample sale, or the subway at rush hour. Bach flower essences are available in most health food stores as well as at Whole Foods.
  • A small cup/bowl of spring water or filtered tap water. To prepare, hold the bottle and tap the bottom into the palm of your opposite hand eight times to activate, holding your intention for your ritual in your mind. Add two drops of the essence to water.

Floral Tapping :: The Flower Power Tap – Right Side Only

  • Prepare a short, simple grounding affirmation expressed in the positive. Some examples you might use: “I am grounded and calm” / “I am grounded and sovereign of my energy / “I embody my truth” / “Sat Nam” (which means “truth is my identity”)
  • Now bring the fingertips of the right hand together, bunched loosely. Dip your fingers in the activated flower essence water.
  • Begin solidly tapping with the fingers, starting at the right temple by the opening of the ear. Continue to tap, circling the right ear, while saying the affirmation. Take a deep breath in and out. Tune into the rooted, grounding energy.
  • Do this three-five rounds at least five times a day, and at least 30 minutes apart.

In the midst of our busy lives in our glorious urban jungles, tap into the essence of the flowers to ground you back to earth. Vibrational medicine works to support us, to allow us to live our life in the full technicolor sensory system of our very human being.

MARCH 2016 ECLIPSE SEASON: A TOTAL GUIDE

Eclipses are a time to surrender control. Get the scoop on the upcoming eclipse season, as Danielle Paige dives into their affect on your psyche. Artwork: Heather Heininge

Heather Heininge on The Numinous

The confusion, the pain, the sadness, the changes. The DIZZINESS. Welcome to Eclipse Season! The current cosmic energy is huge, and as a sensitive, energetic being it’s no surprise you’re feeling everything so deeply. But remember, this is just one way the Universe gets you to open up to a new way of life and a higher vibration – one you are being asked to rise to in order to be more in tune with your higher self and your soul’s purpose.

Eclipse Season occurs approximately twice a year, and has the potential to seriously ruffle some feathers. As a result, March is a huge month of change, as the Universe welcomes the new you to step forward. Your task, if you choose to accept it, is to let go of your ego control and breathe through the storm. Because you’re being called.

First, allow me to explain a little about the patterns and cycles in the sky and how they relate to us here on Earth.

It’s likely you’ve been feeling extra emotional since the end of February. February 22, 2016 to be exact. In so then good news, you’re right on track. The February 22 Virgo Full Moon was significant, because it was the closing act to the cosmic journey we’ve been on the past six months.

You see, approximately every six months we are subjected to a series of vibrational upgrades. We enter a new chapter of our soul’s story, this last one ushered in by the last Eclipse Season – in September 2015. The energy of each Eclipse Season spans this same six month period, leading us into the next chapter of our life – hence the energy of March 2016. A.k.a. the beginning of the NEXT chapter.

So if the Virgo Full Moon felt extra strong, it’s because it absolutely was! It was the last full moon of our previous collective chapter, and a finale to the energy of the September Eclipse Season. Look back over the past few months. How have you grown, what’s changed, and what lessons have you learned? Some will have been fun, others not so much. And now the Universe is about to push the reset button.

:: MARCH 8 SOLAR ECLIPSE ::

So, it’s March 2016 and we’ve officially entered a new eclipse season which starts off with a solar eclipse on March 8 at 18 degrees of Pisces. This energy is important for everyone even if you aren’t a Pisces sun sign because you all have Pisces in your birth chart and may have a planet at or around that degree.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun temporarily blocking the Sun’s light from reaching Earth. Because, in astrology, the Sun represents your conscious unfolding self, when it’s temporarily blocked we get a fresh start, often because something in your life changes – is “eclipsed.” You will all feel an eclipse; however, the strength of it always goes back to the activity in your personal birth chart.

When an eclipse activates a planet in your birth chart it means it’s time to use the energy of that planet in a new way. The thing with eclipse energy is the change is not always rational and logical. Most often it’s in a way that forces change in your life, as it’s here to push you to adjust to a new way of living.

It’s important to note that not all change is negative – but it is all necessary! Amazing events can happen during eclipses. I know a girl who is releasing her new book, another that won an award, and people can get engaged and married around eclipses because all these events are pushing you to the next chapter of your life.

The March 8 solar eclipse ushers in a new celestial chapter for everyone. Whatever happened the last six months is behind you now-  and as we draw nearer, a new story is about to unfold.

This is where the magic begins, and which will then bleed into the coming months

Eclipse energy is most active 7-10 days before and/or after the eclipse date and can start about a month before as well. But remember, don’t look for something to happen exactly on March 8. It can, however, events usually occur as we’re approaching the exact eclipse date.

In summary, this solar eclipse is the birth of something new. What will it bring in for you? Well that depends on your soul contract and how it’s activating your chart, however, the reset button will be pressed for everyone.

:: MARCH 23 LUNAR ECLIPSE ::

A solar eclipse is always followed two weeks later by a Lunar Eclipse. During a Lunar Eclipse, the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon blocking the Sun’s light from reflecting on the Moon.

This can be a very emotional time. The moon rules our emotions, so when she’s eclipsed she temporarily has no mirror to reflect the Sun’s light and as energetic beings we are also synchronistically cut off from our “power supply” and reintroduced to our shadow side.

This is a time when your unconscious takes center stage, and you can tap into a side of yourself that you’ve pushed down for some time. As a highly sensitive person, you can feel this shift in energy with every ounce of your being, as if you’re being asked to find your way in the “dark.”

Those suppressed emotions, the crap you thought you got rid of long ago – nope, still there! Deep fears, deep pain, deep wounds…this is heavy Scorpio territory – all things hidden that must be transformed for your evolution. But don’t worry – what’s happening is you’re clearing your emotional body of toxic emotions a.k.a. cleaning house! (Yes, once again…I know!)

As you can see, the energy of a lunar eclipse can stir an internal crisis (which is also often caused by external sources, especially relationships, which act as a mirror); and this often brings confusion, doubt, and panic to a head. All of this is designed to spur a conclusion, culmination, ending, or decision of something in your life.

Where and how this plays out will be different for everyone as it depends, again, on where the eclipse point is activated in your birth chart. If you don’t know, no need to worry, simply listen to your intuition and trust that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

This season’s lunar eclipse occurs on March 23 at 3 degrees of Libra. Note: The Lunar Eclipse on September 27 2015 was at 4 degrees of Aries which is the opposite sign of Libra. This means that themes could repeat themselves; however, the energy is new and will manifest differently. Less anger (Aries) and more cooperation (Libra).

:: MOVING FORWARD ::

In between these two fated celestial events (solar and lunar eclipse) is a magic window of change. Just as the ground shifts during an earthquake so too does the energy in your life. During the process it’s not uncommon for things to get messy. Give it time as you are breaking out of old patterns and new energy is coming in.

The energy of this eclipse season will continue to unfold until September 2016, as you continue to evolve as well, and at which time we will enter the NEXT round of eclipses. Or, as I like to call them, upgrades from the Universe.

Remember, there’s nothing to fear or anticipate. One of the main spiritual lessons of eclipse season is to surrender control – because truthfully, none of us have control over life events, only how we choose to react to them.

This article should only be used as a guide to help you understand the larger cosmic forces at work. The universe is not out to get you, it’s simply connecting the dots and speeding up events on your evolving soul journey based on your karmic contract and your free will. All eclipse related activity is destined and connected to your spiritual growth and higher purpose.

So breathe deeply. You’re not going crazy, you’re not losing your mind. Yes, you may be extra emotional right now and throughout the month of March, however, your true soul desires are being answered even if it doesn’t always look like it from your human perspective. Though if you look up and within you’ll see the patterns in the sky connecting to the patterns in your heart.

Many blessings to you, sweet child. You’re surrounded by angels, please call upon them for assistance if need be. The Universe is conspiring in your favor.

INSTAPOETS: AN INTERVIEW WITH MARKUS ALMOND

In a new series celebrating our favorite poets of IG, Kiran Gill talks to Markus Almond, author of Motivational Quotes To Get The Blood Moving, about the intersection of creativity and spirituality…

Screen Shot 2016-02-26 at 6.39.30 PM

The Numinous: You’re both a poet and a musician, how do these two worlds intersect? Is the creative process similar or different?
Markus Almond: They are pretty similar I think. Writing feels more natural to me. With music, I would have to fit a certain number of syllables into a melody and then sometimes make it rhyme. But with writing prose, I’m able to say exactly what I wanted to say without making it fit into an existing format.

TN: Where do you get the inspiration for your writing?
MA: The inspiration comes from different things depending on what I’m writing. Sometimes I’m just writing thinly veiled notes to myself or people I love. Other times, I’m telling a story or trying to pass on some sort of advice.

TN: What is your definition of spirituality?
MA: It’s that unexplainable power that you feel when you close your eyes and let go.

Screen Shot 2016-02-26 at 6.27.10 PM

TN: Do you have any daily rituals or practices to aid you in your writing?
MA: I meditate every day. And I listen to music in my headphones when I write. I prefer to write with the lights off and my office locked. It helps keep me focused on the task at hand. And I can usually only write at night after everyone else has gone to sleep.

TN: What was the impetus for putting your work out onto the Internet and becoming a published author?
MA: I was going through some personal stuff a few years ago. And I was so over-worked and tired of looking at a computer. So I bought this little manual typewriter and made a limited edition zine with some scissors, a glue stick, and a copy machine. It was the first thing I ever published. And people seemed to like it so I published some more, built a website and started writing books.

Screen Shot 2016-02-26 at 6.28.43 PM

TN: What life experiences have had the biggest impact on your work?
MA: Being a musician has probably had the biggest impact on me. That journey took me to so many different places (both spiritually and geographically) that there is just so much material to write from. I’ve got enough stories floating around in my head that it will take me the rest of my life to get them all down on paper.

TN: We love your existential take on self-help – are you a fan of any traditional self-help authors? Who and how has their work impacted you?
MA: Yeah, I read self-help books all the time. Right now I’m reading two books by Thich Nhat Hanh and also The 12 Week Year. I think books are like software for our brains so it’s important what we read. It can have a great impact on our lives if we read helpful things.

Screen Shot 2016-02-26 at 6.32.58 PM

TN: What do you hope your writing will inspire in people?
MA: Honestly, I hope that they’ll just email me once in a while and tell me I’m doing a good job. I don’t really write books for mass appeal or with the intention of selling a million copies. I write them because I enjoy writing. But still, it’s nice to know that people like them from time to time.

TN: What are the biggest challenges of being human? The greatest joys?
MA: Fear can be one of the biggest challenges. It can manifest itself in all kinds of weird ways. I think if you can learn to spot fear and get through it without stopping, you’ll go far in the world. The greatest joy of being human is probably different for everyone. For me, it’s those happy things that happen by accident. Sometimes lucky magic just crosses our path for no reason and that can bring a sense of joy.

PSYCHIC AWAKENING: FROM FASHIONISTA TO SHAMANISTA

Fashion stylist Colleen McCann knew something had to give when people started shouting “witch!” at her in the street. Here’s how she went from fashionista to shamanista, and found a way to merge both her worlds…

Colleen McCann Style Rituals shamanista on The Numinous

Shit got real when I heard my first “voice” in the Bodega on South 4th Street and Bedford Avenue over a fight about bananas – and I haven’t looked back. Okay, let me rewind a bit first.

My name is Colleen McCann and up until six years ago I was a typical Brooklyn girl. I lived in Williamsburg, I rode the J-train to the city every day. I brunched at Five Leaves, I threw elbows at sample sales and I had a successful 15-year career in the fashion industry as a designer, stylist, brand consultant and serial entrepreneur.

So what happens when you add “hearing voices” to your repertoire? Well, you start hearing more voices and rubbing elbows with the spiritual renegades that roam the streets of the city.

During the next fashion week, a gypsy woman approached me and wanted to further examine my vibrant green aura at her psychic salon. I darted away and she kept calling “Wait, this is really important come back!”

Quickly followed by my encounter with Joe of the Marcy Street subway platform, who came up to me and said: “Don’t worry about him” and proceeded to read every single thought I had on my mind about my then recent breakup with my boyfriend. I said to Joe “Wait, what did you say you did for a living?” He was a mattress salesman. We enter a long pause together, and he then says: “But I’m really into Astrology.” He winked at me and got off at the next stop.

The real icing on the cake came when this crazy lady on 33rd Street started screaming violently: “witch, witch, witch!” I turned around to see who crazy pants was aiming her opinions at, and unfortunately it was me. Run! I thought…but was I running from the eccentric pupu platter of NYC street weirdos, or was I running from my newly found freakish self?

Colleen’s old life involved a lot of shoes

Okay Universe, I hear you loud and clear. Time to get a second opinion – and maybe not at the psych ward.

So where do you turn in a situation like this? I was scared, embarrassed, uneducated on all subjects of mystical matters. Also, just plain fucking freaked out. But as luck would have it a random girl, now one of my best friends, came up to me in the hallway at my client’s office in midtown and randomly (or not so randomly) asked if I believe in psychics.

“Ummmm, I guess so?” I said, thinking: “Oh god she knows! She sees something is happening to me!” She proceeded to direct me to a psychic who had his mystical lair in the back of a 2nd floor botanical emporium in the flower district.

Following my nose, I soon found myself walking up a set of rickety, shabby chic stairs and swatting cherry blossoms and orchids out of my face to get to the unmarked door of my future destiny. I felt like I was headed for the latest speakeasy – one that was not yet reviewed on Yelp.

Walking in, I was greeted by a man I don’t even think remembered my name. But his black eyes locked with mine and he ran over and grabbed my hands and said: “Oh, honey you’re not crazy, you’re psychic! Sit down and let’s discuss.”

I stood, frozen, and as if watching a movie montage I flashed back through all the “WTF” moments I actually experienced since childhood. Do you remember those grade school contests where you had to guess the number of jelly beans in the jar? Well, I would guess the exact amount every time.

There was the time my little sister was playing tea party with her two imaginary friends, Dan and Carl, and I sat in silence thinking: but I see them, what’s she talking about?

Well – I may have been a weirdo, but at least I now knew what kind of weirdo I was, and I embarked on a mission to figure it all out. Which meant I did what any brazen New York girl would have done…I traded my high-heels for hiking boots and decided to get educated on all things mystical.

Colleen McCann Style Rituals shamanista on The Numinous
Shamanista boot camp…

I attended Shaman school in the wilds of the Chilean outback and against the desert back drop of Joshua Tree. As part of my training, I traveling the unpaved paths of Mount Shasta, Hudson Valley, Big Sur, Kauai, and any other energetically charged hot spot I could get to between days on set.

I have studied Peruvian Shamanism with the Four Winds Society where I learned how to do hands on healing with the chakra system and how to connect with my spirit guides. I also learned the art of channeling in the Nordic and Celtic traditions and regularly attend sessions with a group of Curanderas where I learn about plant medicine and tinctures.

In my free time? You can generally find me in a crystal shop in the back woods of Chinatown, where I learn about gems, mediation, astrology, auras, Feng Shui and medicinal teas from a group of women I affectionately call “The Chinese Crystal Mafia”.

I really put myself through the mystical wringer in an effort to work with my inner freak, but in the process I found I had manifested a whole new calling out of this adventure to reclaim my sanity. So now what?

As I continued my trip down the crystal-laden rabbit hole I started feeling a lot of internal moral conflict, not to mention external physical exhaustion, with the double life I was living. Arriving on set, it would be impossible to ignore the toxic side of the fashion industry: greed, vanity, ego, drug addiction, workaholism, alongside a whopping dose of eating disorders. Did I really want to subject myself to this any longer?

Being a fashion stylist is back breaking work. The hours are long and the work very physical. There are always a plethora of personalities to juggle in the room, and not to mention the constant jet-lag. So what’s a girl to do? I had been maneuvering this double life for six years straight, and I needed to make a shift. So instead of turning my back on the industry that had embraced me for so long, I decided to take my lemonade…and make a lemonade stand!

Colleen McCann Style Rituals shamanista on The Numinous

It was simple: my fashion clients have become my healing clients. These days, I address the underlying issues in my well-dressed community, as who better than me to truly understand the unique brand of pressure and stress they experience day-to-day.

Truth be told I was a little nervous to start telling my crew what I had been up to in my free time. Would I be socially ostracized? Would I lose my clients? As I started confessing my weekend whereabouts, people would stare in silence for a minute and then say something: “Ohhhhh, that explains a few things. When can I get a session?!”

Eureka! There was room in my life for my passions to coexist. I did however have to make a few changes to accommodate my morals, schedule, energy level and a budding new business.

Since coming out of the Shamanic closet, I started a business called Style Rituals. I use my fashionista roots AND my spiritual know-how to realign the energetic body with the physical body. I may still clean out someone’s closet, but we are removing low vibrational clothing, along with a hands on healing, manifestation techniques, altar building and a discussion with their spirit guides.

And while the majority of my work now is healing-based, I also made a conscious decision to do fashion projects with people I enjoy being around, or who’s projects are doing good in our society.

Next up? I’ll be taking my place as resident Shaman with LA-based Daily Bliss Yoga Retreats when we head to Thailand in March. And I’m creating an online webinar to help women who are spiritually blasting wide open and have no idea what’s happening to them work out the, ummm, “kinks” shall we say.

Having been there and done that, I’m honored to be able to help others that are going through exactly what I did. To help them remember who they really are, and re-gain their sovereignty – while navigating modern life in the modern world.

TAROTSCOPES: MARCH 2016

Cast by Lindsay Mack using The Starchild Akashic Deck

:: Pisces/Pisces Rising :: The Hierophant

Happy birthday, sweet Pisces! WHAT a powerful cycle you have ahead of you. There is an abundance of Major Arcana cards for many of the signs this month, heralding some massive shifts and expansions for many of us. This is totally in line with the astro weather right now; we’re in Eclipse season, after all.

The Universe is doing some pretty major energetic housecleaning for Pisces this month. Your job will be to surrender to it, and allow it to happen as thoroughly as is required. The Hierophant is working with Pisceans in two ways: it’s facilitating a big clearing AND it’s aligning you more deeply with your soul path. This will reach a big peak for you on the New Moon Eclipse in Pisces on March 8.

It’s been a quietly tough few months for Pisceans. All seems well, but there have been some tremendous waves under the surface. This isn’t bad or good, just an acknowledgment of the energy you’ve been moving through. The good news is that while these waves might feel scary or overwhelming, they’re actually the contractions in the spiritual labor you’re in. They’ve been serving you the whole time, getting you ready to birth something new.

The Hierophant card is a big evolutionary energy, and is going to kickstart your labor, so to speak – inviting you to release some really, really old and outdated beliefs this month so you can make room for the new and the true. Why? So you can fully step up and be of service in a way you never have before (and for many of you Piscean healers, that is saying something).

The Hierophant is a clear channel for the Divine, which is important for Pisceans to understand. The key to hearing our guides, living in our channel and being aligned with our soul’s path is being able to distinguish the truth of our channel from the noise of the brain. Clearing up the chatter so we can hear the channel better is the actual word that’s being done for Pisces this month. There are going to be some amazing expansions as a result of all this clearing. Big career shifts, inspirations, new ideas and much more. Think a true alignment with your path and what you’re here to do.

:: Aries/Aries Rising :: Six of Cups

Release the past and gently resist floating into the future. Be here now, and come home to the present moment. Ground down, open the heart, and let all that doesn’t serve you be released. March is a very intense month, but the intensity is totally appropriate. It’s spring! Buds are bursting, animals are birthing; and all this awakening makes for an uncomfortable, messy time, energetically.

Anytime we might want to get some answers as to why things feel so crazy, we need only to go outside and look around us. See the trees getting ready to bloom? Now consider all of the invisible activity facilitating this underneath the Earth’s surface. Nature is our greatest teacher, and we are all waking up now, honoring the organic rhythm of the moment.

This is such important medicine for Aries and Aries rising this month. You guys may want to move through the discomfort of this time quickly, but there’s nothing to do but BE RIGHT HERE. Trust in this, because this moment is all there is. When we drift off into the past or the future, we’ve dropped out of that energetic co-creation of our future with the Universe. There really is no future without our participation; we are birthing it in every moment. So if you float away, just keep coming back home.

How? Get outside and move your body as often as possible, no matter how cold it might be. Just bundle up and go for it! And make sure you’re really nourishing your body, keeping caffeine and anything that taxes the adrenals to a minimum. This is a VERY potent month for emotional excavation: sharing, laughing, crying, orgasming, walking, sweating, screaming – leave all the dead stuff in the winter.

Remember: healing happens in spirals and layers, and while we might feel as though we’re moving up and down, we’re only ever going forward. If ancient traumas or unpleasant memories arise this month, it is in the service of releasing some old shrapnel or splinters so we can be unencumbered in the year ahead. Your willingness to do so is the key to your journey and expansion in the rest of 2016!

:: Taurus/Taurus Rising :: Judgment

In the Starchild Tarot, the Judgment card is known as AWAKENING. I can think of no better word for Taurus’ journey this month, since March is launching Taurus into an entirely new level of self love and self acceptance. You will be offered so many opportunities to rewire old beliefs and resentments, welcoming love and compassion in their place. It’s a huge evolution, bringing you back into the awareness that embracing your self is part of your birthright.

And when we love ourselves, we invite the whole world to love itself, too. It’s an energetic invitation that is so intoxicating, and Taurus, you are leading the charge for us all. This month holds some extremely important work for you – not only for your expansion, but for those that you love, teach and honor with your presence and friendship. As you evolve, you’ll energetically invite them to evolve, too.

You might come face to face with some old judgments about yourself or others this month. Don’t mistake this for a backward step – it’s coming up for you to rewire and rewrite the story. You must first acknowledge whatever is ready to be released, right? Hold this truth close to your heart this month as you navigate these old, cobwebby places.

Awakening/Judgment is a huge energy, and carries with it a supremely important truth: there’s only so far we can go without truly freeing ourselves from judgments of the heart and mind. This card’s energy is about the transition from judgment into love, and Taureans will see this on every level this month, both for yourselves and others. This is a necessary step for Taurus in the evolution of your year.

Expect some really big and powerful learning experiences, on a micro and a macro level. How you view your body, how you feed and nourish yourself, how you compare yourself to others – what others did to you and what you’ve done to yourself. Everything is up for review; everything is ready to be released, embraced, and forgiven. The invitation is to be free from carrying the weight of resentment, bitterness and old stories. Write a new ending to that story this month. Keep bowing and stepping forward into love.

:: Gemini/Gemini Rising :: Page of Wands

This is a time of big movement for Gemini! Wow! At home in the buzz and excitement of early Spring, you guys are really going to flourish in the intensity of this month. You’ve been doing SO much clearing and releasing – now the spark and desire to move forward is really going to take root. Page of Wands is all about rushing into the future with the wisdom of the past. There is a youthful feel to this card – a fresh and welcome energy for Gemini coming out of winter.

Trust this time of movement. You guys live for this kind of electric energy, so use and infuse it into your life and what you want to manifest next. The Page of Wands is Air and Fire; the blending of the two creates these wild explosions, perfect for you this month. Create, have fun, and take big leaps. They’re going to pay off beautifully. It’s important to blend action with dreaming now, so get your hands in the dirt, so to speak. It’s a really good time for any business or travel ventures, too.

The only area to tread more cautiously in is the realm of crushes. You guys fly fast and hard with infatuations normally – all part of your charm and allure. This month, however, stay SUPER grounded with your love interests. Don’t rush into anything that’s not really rooted for you. This isn’t to say that if you’re nursing new feelings for someone it’s not going to work out beautifully. Just don’t elope – yet. Pour that passion and desire into your life’s work and into your self expansion.

Stay flexible, stay patient, and stay focused in the realm of fun and play. Be wary of impatience. Allow your mind, always brimming with ideas, options and thoughts, to be on the back burner this month. As you move and groove, you might find yourself thinking:, “Okay, well, this is awesome, but what’s next?! Can I get there faster?!” – and if you find yourself in this place, just breathe and come back to square one. You may have to do this a lot this month, but it’s going to be so good for you. It is deeply healing for Gemini to be in the present moment, even while stirring the cauldron for whatever exciting steps lies ahead.

:: Cancer/Cancer Rising :: Six of Wands

This month is full of really fabulous expansions for you Cancer. Like Gemini, you guys have been working your asses off since the fall – now there’s some lovely sweetness on its way to you. Make no mistake: this month is intense for everyone, but Cancers can expect some really wonderful energetic rewards during this time.

These rewards, so to speak, come in the form of attention, respect and acknowledgment for your hard work. There is a sense of victory for Cancer this month, externally and internally. The Six of Wands offers us an experience of being celebrated or “seen” – and while that idea of being out there on display might sound like a nightmare for some particularly hermetic Cancers, fear not. This isn’t an uncomfortable way of being seen; no vulnerability or raw emotions are involved.

This is a joyful energy, and about allowing yourself to be honored as you move through an advancement. Whether you’re stepping up a level in your career, advancing in your field of study, or even taking a big leap in your work, love, or home life, you’re getting the news and confirmation this month that there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow you’ve been chasing.

For Cancer, this month is a mental game changer. An awareness in YOURSELF about how amazing and appreciated you are is the core of March. You can get excited! You can be proud of yourself. In fact, the hard work of the last few months has been in service of beginning to nurture a new sense of harmony within you, which is all about you being more aligned with your soul’s path.

You are born beautiful nurturers, but it has been crucial for you to start giving the same level of care and attention to your own needs. It’s been tough, but you’ve been saying “yes.” You’ll begin to really see this month that true nurturing is a wellspring that can only start from you. Keep going and enjoy!

:: Leo/Leo Rising :: Two of Pentacles

Balance, balance, balance – and did I mention balance? You have full permission to be as spiritually selfish as it suits you this month, for you are in the beginning stages of some really crucial life path expansions. Whether this applies to you as a parent, an entrepreneur, an artist, or just as a human being, this is an enormously important soul path month for Leo.

What I’m talking about is nurturing unconditional self-regard in whatever you are currently moving through; not taking ANYTHING additional onto your plate unless it serves your highest good. If work, friends, family or loved ones take a backseat this month, that’s totally aligned for you. And if there are some loves in your life you’re used to offering energetic support to, let them carry their own weight this month.

Trust in this and keep going. Be gentle but firm with those who don’t understand – you’re simply mirroring a process of personal responsibility and an empowerment that’s probably not coming easily to them. In fact, you’re offering them a healing by letting them be a little uncomfortable!

The Two of Pentacles is actually a wonderful card; it speaks of fresh, new beginnings, and of much needed changes. Changes you have been working towards, so it’s a beautiful testament to your hard work. But this work is a balancing act. It is imperative that you only surround yourself with people who do not emotionally drain you. Bringing any heavy energy in now, everything will tumble. But if this does happens, simply re-center, pick everything up and start again.

Of course, taking care of yourself and getting proper rest and nourishment comes first and foremost this month. Again, be gentle and unapologetic. Take the time you need, whether for work or breaks. Your priority now is to develop a strong sense of self. This time is sweet and fleeting; savor every single moment of it.

:: Virgo/Virgo Rising :: Strength

Between January’s Mercury retrograde and the Full Moon last week, Virgos have really been really knocked around by some major astro weather recently. This intensity is still hanging around for you in March, but the Strength card suggests you’ll experience it in a different way. Known mostly for your practicality, loyalty, and keenly critical eye, I think Virgos are often misunderstood, and in a fairly limiting way – even to themselves. All of those aforementioned qualities lie atop a powerful and innate intuitive ability.

Yes, you CAN see everything – you’ve just never known how to work with it. In fact, the intensity of Virgo insight can sometimes fry your nervous system, sparking up the self-criticism and paranoia that can be part of Virgo when it’s out of balance. It takes practice for anyone to distinguish between their brain chatter and their true channel. Once Virgo masters this, you have some of the clearest psychic connections of all the signs.

Strength is ushering this in for all Virgos, and it can’t come a moment too soon. Our fragile planet literally needs your sense of justice, specificity and care right now, which is why Virgos have really been stripped and rebuilt in the last year or so, most strongly in the last few months. It’s time to wake up to who and what you truly are; born healers and helpers.

Strength is inviting you to understand your magnificence from the inside out –speaking to an emotional, psychic, spiritual Strength. Soul Strength. The energy of the Strength card about knowing who you truly are and letting yourself shine. Strength can stand with the lion, unafraid, because her channel is clear. She knows it’s safe, even though it might look risky or scary to an outsider.

That is the perfect metaphor for what Virgo is moving through right now: a process of trusting yourself and your instincts in a way more than ever. But proceed gently, as you nervous system might be quite worn out. Take it one step at a time, getting plenty of rest and drinking lots of water. You’re essentially being reprogrammed, so it’s wise for you to rest as much as possible while your new upgrade is being installed.

:: Libra/Libra Rising :: The Sun

Joy, gratitude, and illumination are the key words for Libra this month. The Sun card is the invitation into the light. We are able to truly see our lives through objective and loving eyes. If life hasn’t made a lot of sense to you lately, lean into the Sun’s energy. Soak up its warmth, and say yes to its invitation. This is a beautiful shift for Libra following a few crunchy months. Life CAN feel a bit smoother this month – if you are willing to allow it to be.

The Sun comes after The Moon. It is the light of a new dawn after a period of darkness; the sight of land after a long journey at sea. And so this month is about coming back to Earth after a time in the Void, allowing the Sun’s energy to infuse your life with its wisdom and energy as you process the shift from air to earth. You’ve been learning and balancing, now you get to bask a bit and see the “why” behind all that effort.

The other invitation for Libra this month is JOY – as there’s so much available to you this month! Even in the moments you might be feeling shitty, joy will be an available and unlocked door for you. From joy, there will be yet more ease and grounding – letting your roots stretch down even deeper, while your branches soar ever upward. It’s a beautiful relationship, and one that will enable you to open to all the clarity and gratitude that’s currently swirling around you. You just have to open that door.

So consider how worthy and deserving you feel about embracing the Sun’s joy and light. Do you trust it? Are you willing to let the light in? Are you willing to truly see yourself and others bathed in this light? If any resistance arises, look at it with compassionate curiosity.

Any lack of worthiness or discomfort we feel in the face of our joy suggests an area to lavish some attention on. In order for you to move forward holding that well deserved joy in your heart, you have to check out the places that feel uncomfortable for you too. Smooth them out with the grace of your loving attention.

:: Scorpio/Scorpio Rising :: The Star

March is a massive heart opener for Scorpio. This month is huge for you guys – a major energetic clearing. Scorpio, like Pisces, has been feeling the intense vibes lately, and has been privately moving through some big stuff. For many Scorpios, the last few months have been a time of big trauma resurgences. Know that all of this is coming up to the surface to be released; another layer of shrapnel gone.

For many of you, this is a beautiful time to seek a lot of loving support. Whatever that means for you, make sure you’re honoring yourself and sharing your experience as often as possible.

The Star comes after The Tower for a reason. It’s the cooling rain after a forest fire, and is the most profoundly healing card in the Tarot. It soothes our wounds, shining some beautiful maternal light onto us, inviting us to crack our hearts open and trust in life again. It’s in this heart opening that all of these old pieces and emotions can be released, washed away by starlight and healing water.

If the recent mood hasn’t been so intense for you, this is still a gorgeous opportunity for some sweetness and nurturing as you step forward into the next phase of your life, unburdened by anything you no longer need. For all of you, relish any time you are near water. Be IN water as much as possible. Baths, showers, pools, rivers, oceans, hot springs – whatever you gotta do, seek them out! And make sure you’re drinking a ton of it, too.

You can also hang out with lots of Rose Quartz and Aquamarine this month; soft pinks, blues and greens are going to be so lovely for your heart. Also, howl like wolves. Travel. See new places. Quit that job you hate. Get all of this old stuff out of you. The light is dawning on a new, lighter and more peaceful time for you, Scorpio – flow with this energy and the release will feel like a resurrection.

:: Sagittarius/Sagittarius Rising :: Ace of Crystals

March is a month for aligning your abundance with your soul’s path, Sagittarius – it’s a beautiful time for you! New and exciting beginnings abound. The Ace of Crystals is a gorgeous energy, signaling all kinds of abundance: financial inheritance of any kind, a new job, a baby (yes, a baby!), or any kind of “seed.” Each Ace of Crystals is a seed that contains the fullness of a beautiful and bountiful harvest. It will come in many different forms to you this month, Sagittarius, so be open and receptive.

In fact, receptivity is the key word for you this month. Be open to this new, beautiful energy. Trust in it. Walk through life with your palms open and your words full of gratitude. Let go of ANY expectations and let yourself be surprised by what drops in. Consider that the entire month will be full of this bounty. The Aces are a beautiful gift, but like all gifts, we must be open to receiving them.

And regarding that whole “aligning your abundance with your soul path thing”: the Universe means business with this. This month is really clearly directing you toward a whole new level of this energy in your life. But this is an Ace energy; it’s the seed. Remember: a baby grows in utero for nine months before coming Earthside. These alignments take time.

So this is the time for planting the seeds, for receiving the seeds. The Pisces New Moon eclipse on March 8 is going to be particularly potent for you too, and I highly recommend you harness its energy to direct toward what you’re manifesting in this new cycle.

If we water the garden of our dreams with our willingness to be receptive and abundant, there is NOTHING that can’t take root. And for you, it really can be that simple this month. No begging, no praying, no spell casting required: it’s all right there for you. You’re just being redirected back to the wellspring that is your energetic and abundant birthright. The question is, will you accept it without judgment? Will you trust that a lowly seed – perhaps one you weren’t even expecting – could be the one to transform your garden into a lush paradise?

:: Capricorn/Capricorn Rising :: The Moon

You’re in for an extremely powerful month, Capricorn. You, like Virgo, are going through a big Earth sign expansion – coming even more deeply into your surrender, your shadow side, and your psychic abilities. This is such a good thing! Fabulous in fact, and I highly encourage you to lean deeply into the energy of the month. Let it gently crack you open, infusing you with powers and abilities you never knew you had.

This is not a month of big action for you, Capricorn. The Major Arcana cards cast a macrocosmic net over things – working on the big picture. The Moon is VERY big picture, but also very vague – much like the physical moon herself. The of overall energy you’re hanging out in this month is largely subterranean. It’s more feminine, more psychically charged, more deep and mysterious. So all of the external, active stuff coming your way this month will be steeped in this energy.

The Moon is a really potent card. It’s the card of the Void, or the unknown. Not a whole lot makes sense in the Void, because it’s extrasensory. That’s why this month is so powerful for Capricorn, internally and psychically. You must trust it. 1000 per cent trust it. Take a seat in the Void and pull up a blanket. Get comfy. Let your third eye adjust to the dark, much like a jungle cat.

SO much information is going to come to and through you this month. So as your guides whisper to you, quiet yourself enough to actually hear them. Work with Tarot cards, your pendulum, or crystals. Be outside as often as possible. Allow for lots of magical alone time. Totally surrender and abandon the need to have specific answers this month. Let them come when they do.

I think the key for hanging out in the Moon card comfortably, is practicing surrender. And then to embrace and even relish this time, knowing the medicine it brings. Remember this energy, like everything else, is temporary – so dive in while it’s here.

:: Aquarius/Aquarius Rising :: Five of Cups

You’re moving through some wildly important and contractive energies with the Five of Cups this month Aquarius. Think “emotional mastery” on a whole new level! Five of Cups can come with feelings of loss, regret and grieving. It can spiral us into some pretty major emotional experiences. However, remember that experience is different from truth. When little children throw screaming tantrums because you take away their stuffed toy to be washed, they’re having an experience – real, but not TRUE. Well Aquarius will be getting a master class in this idea with the Five of Cups.

A screaming child is the perfect metaphor and teacher for working with this energy. Know that we CAN become the loving, patient adult who holds space for the child’s experience. We don’t have to match them, or believe them. In fact, this is exactly what the Five of Cups is teaching us to do, its true medicine, as it actually helps us to become the watcher of our feelings. To not be as identified with them. This is a beautiful life wisdom, and also something Aquarius is particularly ready to master.

For you, this month will be about the continual flow between having an experience to becoming the holder of that experience. It’s about knowing you are safe, that nothing is permanent, and nothing is ever lost to you that you are meant to have – these are all universal truths. So you can trust them, and keep scooping up your inner child and reminding them of this. Even better, every time we do this, we have the chance to literally rewire our brains.

So no playing the “what if” game with yourself this month. Just stay present, breathe, and know that a big expansion is coming, cresting on the wake of all of the growth and wisdom that you will gain from moving through the Five of Cups. Even if you are set on having a particularly light and lovely month, remember that even the smallest doses of moving away from identification and victimhood with your experiences will be POTENTLY transformative.
