Plug in the extension cord. You need more power. The source of power is hidden, but it doesn’t matter because you can reach it by extension. Go off into a quiet room and rejuvenate. Charge your batteries. When you step back into the center of activity you’ll be making powerful decisions.

A star forms a window into another universe. A little light peeks through from unknown dimensions. What will you do to reach a fresh way of thinking? Can you see the world around you in a new way? Use your imagination and play with different perspectives. Maybe that sewage grate leads somewhere magical. Maybe that tired old conversation can lead to an exciting realization. Nothing is as it seems.

Aquarius // Aquarius Rising
Cup your hands. Your hands are an extension of your heart. When you hold hands, you share love. When you reach out your hands you reach for connection. Cupping your hands creates an emotional container that can be filled. Pause and feel your emotions. Hold onto the feelings instead of pushing them away. Before you can let go and move on, you need to feel fully. Take the time to do so.

Pisces // Pisces Rising
X marks the spot. Get clear about the focus, the goal, the treasure. It’s so easy to miss the mark. To dig in the wrong places. To ride out bad communication patterns and be aggressive or defensive. You know you’ve found irreplaceable treasure when you know how to diffuse defensiveness through clear communication and healthy boundaries. The hidden treasure is your ability to create interpersonal connection. Find it.

Aries // Aries Rising
A squirrel leaps to a new tree. Small woodland animals represent the daily work that you do to survive. A squirrel fills her day with chores and she is constantly organizing. Pay attention to your workflows and systems. Get grounded. But, it may also be time to leap to a new tree. There is something big that must change. Maybe that means a new habit, a new challenge. The trick is to stay grounded and organized through this busy process.

Taurus // Taurus Rising
A heart shaped hole in the ground. Let’s unpack this symbol: love is a big focus for you at this time. The ground is your foundation. A hole usually ends up being filled— some action must be taken. Fill your foundation with love. Love for yourself will be the soil that fertilizes all the seeds of your life. Love for yourself is your foundation and from there you can share your most creative and vibrant self. The way to love yourself more is by taking action. Do something positive that helps you believe in yourself.

A spider rests in her web. People often get creeped out by spiders. If that’s you, look closer. What are you afraid to look at directly? What do you need to see that you aren’t seeing? Whatever it is will help you come home to yourself. You can unlock the thing that must be acknowledged through meditation, journaling, art, or music. The spider is a weaver— she creates. Create something that helps you feel.

A butterfly is reflected in a clear pool. You learn and change and grow. You transform from the caterpillar into the butterfly. Now you continue to find yourself reflected in new ways. You are still changing. There are so many different ways that can live. The goal is to be limitless. The joy is to find the fun in variety. Don’t box yourself in. Let yourself continue to change. Nothing is finite.

A field of warm coals. There is so much warmth, so much heat, so much energy. You’ve got the fire of life as your foundation. The hot coals mean that the potential is there. Now you just have to decide where you’ll start the bonfires. Don’t worry about how you’ll do your most important work. Just decide where to stack the wood right now. You have everything you need.

THE 2018 SAGITTARIUS WAXING MOON WANTS YOU TO FOLLOW YOUR SOUL GOALS

The 2018 Sagittarius Waxing Moon marks a powerful moment for reflecting on our truth and realigning ourselves with soul-centered growth, says Jennifer Racioppi

Photo: Sydney Altschuler

Waxing Quarter Moon / September 16 2018 / 7:14pm EST / 24 degrees Sagittarius

As we quickly approach September 22nd’s Fall Equinox, the 2018 Sagittarius Waxing Moon asks us to explore our freedom and truth (without throwing in the towel on our goals).

This Waxing Quarter Moon boasts a mix between super friendly transits and those that midwife deep soul level truth. This halfway point between the Virgo New Moon and the upcoming Full Moon marks a potent moment to check in with ourselves.

///

//The Cycle//
This Waxing Quarter Moon brings our attention to intentions set with the Sagittarius New Moon back in December 18, 2017. Think back to the end of 2017; what heartfelt prayers did you solicit the divine to support you with? What soul-driven goals did you set for yourself? This Waxing Quarter Moon shines a light on the growth and progress you intended for yourself since the close of 2017. As we quickly approach the Autumnal Equinox, and the Sun’s entrance into Libra, let this Waxing Quarter moon support you in reflecting on how far you’ve come this year.

///

// The Transits //
At the time of the Waxing Quarter Moon, Jupiter, the ruling planet of Sagittarius, makes a sextile to both Mercury and Pluto. The bestower of good luck and growth, Jupiter imbues our minds and deeper psyches with illuminated thought— should we choose to listen. Score!

However, on the challenging side of things, Mars at 1 degree of Aquarius squares both Venus and Uranus who find themselves in a massive tug of war! Ouch. With Mars approaching an exact conjunction to the South Node of fate and destiny, old patterns get activated that attempt to derail your growth and progress. Be aware. Do not fall for fools’ goals. Watch out for digressions and backward slips, and keep evolving forward.

///

// The Square //
With the Virgo Sun at 24 degrees squaring the Sagittarius Moon, the need to break free battles a sincere desire for order. Virgo season, after all, asks us to get our ducks in a row, and to imbue our life with a deep devotion to our dreams and deep sense of discipline. Yet with the lunar energy, which connects with our core emotional needs, traveling through the sign of freedom, it’s kind of like we want to give the middle finger to discipline and structure in the name of fun and freedom.

Remember, with Mars quickly approaching the South Node of past karmas, old patterns and behaviors reach out like an ex wanting to rekindle a romance in service of a good f*ck. Don’t get sucked in!

///

// The Opportunity //
Use this Waxing Quarter Moon as a point of reflection. Look back to the December 2017 Sagittarius New Moon and check in on goals set then. How are you doing thus far in 2018? With the Equinox right around the corner, let this Waxing Quarter Moon support you to ready yourself for Fall. With Mars quickly approaching the South Node of past karma while squaring Venus (in her retrograde shadow) and Uranus in Taurus, now’s not the time to regress. Be free but don’t sabotage. Let your evolution lead you forward.

LUNAR FENG SHUI: ORGANIZE YOUR LIFE WITH THE CYCLES

In keeping with the vibes of Virgo season, Meghan Wallace James’ guide to Lunar Feng Shui reveals how powerful intention setting starts at home …

Photo: Jacob Dowis

The New Moon offers us the chance to use darkness to initiate insightful alignment in both our inner and outer worlds (especially true during Virgo Season, the zodiac’s queen of divine detail!)

Let’s start by bringing back the concept of boudoir—a French term that includes the master bedroom, closet, and bathroom, and designed for deep withdrawal and privacy. For this lunar cycle, we’ll start with the master bathroom. In its most romanticized context, a bathroom is a place to leisurely commune with Higher Self: a space to practice self care while contemplating the mysteries of The Universe …

Follow the steps below for each moon phase and sync your space with the cosmos! And if you want more time to prepare, you can plan to begin your Lunar Feng Shui experiment with the October 8 Libra New Moon …

///

// NEW MOON// Embrace the mess & purge the past.
1// During the New Moon phase, sit in quiet contemplation in the heart center of your boudoir. Feel into this space and internally inquire: How would an infusion of elegant minimalism and cleanliness bolster my energy? How would a streamlined bathroom positively influence my energetic imprint within my home and beyond?How does the lunar cycle provide an inherent rhythm to a beautifully powerful reset? Answers will come. Give gratitude. Then, in the name of Beauty, enter your bathroom…

2// Turn on the lights, and your ‘energy detective’ eyes. What do you see? Which metaphors are visible? Embrace the mess – yes, your mess. In divine right timing, dedicate the time to move out of your bathroom before moving back into your bathroom. Take an old sheet and lay it in the hallway to protect the floor. Empty everything out of the bathroom, placing all toiletries, cosmetics, towels, you name it, on the sheet. Allow the sheer bulk to resonate.  Your bathroom was holding all this energy for you. Energy that is likely somewhat damp, moldy, grungy, or expired.  “Thank you dear bathroom.”

3// Now it is time to deep clean. Even if you are blessed with a cleaning service, today this is your job. Play chants, or eclectic world music to lift the stagnation from every nook and cranny. Scrub: scrub the sink, scrub the shower, scrub the bath, scrub the toilet. Clean inside the medicine cabinet and any drawers. Get on your hands and knees and do not miss a spot. Here’s the kicker: you are not just cleaning your space, you are cleaning your subconscious as well. So, clean until it becomes a graceful moving meditation. When you are done, open the window(s) and apply smoke medicine: Smudge your bathroom. Smudge your body. Heck, smudge your whole home.

4// Next, head back to the sheet holding all of your items. Let go of what no longer serves you, no longer captivates you. If you would not use the product on or in your body, rinse and recycle the container.  If something carries a negative emotional trigger – no matter what you paid for it, or who gave it to you – donate it. Keep the toilet brush and plunger out of your bathroom; these are unsightly, unsanitary and should live with the other cleaning supplies in your home, for like items prefer to live together.

5// Wipe down your remaining products. Wash the towels in a hot water cycle, take the hair out of your hairbrush, wash the cup holding your toothbrush, rinse the trash can, rinse and fill the soap dispenser … you get the idea. Place what remains back into your bathroom, with thoughtful consideration of your self care routine. Perhaps a fresh placement makes more sense? Remember, like items do best together. Aim to cultivate some empty space, which is a place for fresh energy to land, particularly if you are calling in Love & Abundance.

6// Finish with a shower, and then ideally an Epsom salt soak. You will sleep well tonight and likely have vivid dreams. Keep a notepad and pen on your bedside table, to capture any downloaded jewels.

///

// WAXING MOON// Get ready for an upgrade
Whew, with your bathroom purged, cleaned and realigned, what special touches could you now add? What ‘daily gems’ could be upgraded? ‘Daily gems’ are the household items we interact with on an everyday basis – the pretty hand towels and dry brushes of the world. They should inspire and uplift us, subliminally reinforcing: “I have a beautiful home; ease and grace surround me.” Easy, affordable upgrades in your bathroom can make a huge impact on your mood, such as a new shower curtain, a vibrant bathmat, or a bud vase with a single clipping from your yard.

Please do not overlook your cosmetics kit. Consider fewer products, all natural and high quality. Consider a signature scent for the upcoming crispness of Fall. Consider a new candle, to add a fire element to a very watery part of your home.

///

// FULL MOON// Celebrate the spatial shift
This is the easy part: revel in the Oasis you have created. Reflect on your morning and evening beauty routines … do they feel more luxurious? Has anything shifted in your life since revamping your bathroom? Do you feel lighter and brighter perhaps? Hopefully you find yourself lounging in your tub even longer, dropping in some essential oils, lighting your new candle and using this time for decadent insight.  Marvelous ideas are birthed when we are inspired by what we see and sense.

///

// WANING MOON// Revise & refine
You are sensing the correlation between visual metaphor and lived experience. With that in mind, is there another layer of purging that could happen? Do you truly need seventeen face creams? Do you really require that storage unit, adding bulk and taking up precious floor space? Make one final pass of your bathroom before moving onto a new spatial aspect of your Boudoir, or your home at large, with the next New Moon. Just wait and see… This work is addictive and effective. Your home will soon be completely activated and in tune with Luna!

**BONUS: Where does your boudoir fall on The Bagua? Use the chart below to discover! A Bagua is a Westernized Feng Shui energy map of a space, using the front door as a point of orientation, dividing the area into nine equal sized zones – or ‘guas’. Each gua has a name and energetic correlation, material element, color family, as well as a variety of other associations. …

THE 2018 VIRGO NEW MOON WANTS YOU TO HONOR YOURSELF

The 2018 Virgo New Moon invites us to attend to the divine details, relax into the deeper rhythms of change, and honor ourselves so we can better serve the world, says Sandy Sitron

Photo: Th Anh

New Moon :: September 9 2018 :: 2:02 pm ET :: 17 degrees Virgo

When we live life through the filter of Virgo, we learn that many small parts make up the whole. Here is a platter of tiny take-aways. Spoon-fed digestible bites …

The sun glints off the handle of a metal walking stick.

Take pride. Stand up straight. Embody your solar fire and stay in movement. Your assertive and incessant motion will help you spiral around the mountain, straight to the top. This is the season of service. Although you are able to be of service, you mustn’t be bashful. You are here to share your offering at the altar.

What is the altar that you are currently tending? To be able to tend to the altar, you must honor yourself and have pride. Do the work you are here to do and stand tall.

A hidden metronome.
At this moon you can time your life to a hidden metronome. Even if the patterns and cycles are changing around you, there is a deeper rhythm. Connect to it. The trees can be your guides.

Everything is changing and you are making adjustments. But below this reality there is a steadiness. The seasons always return.

Handfuls of walnuts.
Walnut halves look like lungs. Breathe in and breath out. The focus is on health and nurturance. What small thing can you do about your daily routine?

Honor yourself. Do good, healthy things for yourself. Self-care will become magnified because of the Moon’s sextile to Jupiter. Your ability to be of service expands because of the practical and caring actions that you take.

Virgo season is all about the details. The squirrel is obsessed with every tiny nut. But the squirrel would die without also preparing for the winter. Find the larger cycle. Connect to the big picture. Zoom in and zoom out. Use your sixth sense to tune into what’s really important.

///

Moon opposite Neptune
Eating flowers.

This is a moment to draw a straight line between your daily work and your dreams. What will help you can bring these two things closer together? Eating flowers still seems like a magical thing. A thing that you shouldn’t be able to do. But you can. You can feed yourself on beauty. Your everyday world can be sustained by magic. You just have to synthesize.

Moon sextile Jupiter
Honey pots.

Mmmm … can’t get enough of this sweetness. The potential to magnify and attract abundance is present. This sextile can help you transcend. Open your heart to everything that’s possible. Open yourself to how you want to feel. Because the moon is in Virgo, focus on self-care and organization. This will put you in a positive mindset and raise your vibration. Expansive results will follow.

Moon trine Pluto
Converting your engine to run on vegetable oil.

There’s a transformation on deck. Can it be sustainable? Can it make your world a better place? This is a supportive aspect between Pluto, the planet of deeply fixed emotional patterns, and the Moon, the signifier of your emotional flow and emotional intelligence. These two in harmony can help you cry the tears that got stuck in the past. They can be midwives of catharsis. Bathe in their supportive waters. Cleanse and change your patterns. Upgrade.

THE 2018 GEMINI WANING MOON WANTS YOU TO CHOOSE CLARITY

The 2018 Gemini Waning Moon asks us to cleanse, clarify, and use honest assessment to clear the decks for a new cycle, says Jennifer Racioppi
Photo: Qi Bin

Waning Quarter Moon / September 2 2018 / 10:37pm EST / 10 degrees Gemini

As La Luna wanes back to new, she travels through Gemini and makes a 90-degree angle to the Virgo Sun. This point in the monthly lunar cycle asks us to check in and consider what’s served its purpose and is ready to be laid aside as we begin to train our sights on our next lunar manifestation.

With Mars now direct, and Saturn also about to station direct on September 6th, we currently find ourselves with exceptionally productive potential. And with the Gemini Waning Moon’s ruler, Mercury, now direct and finally clearing his shadow at the time of the Quarter Moon, we have the green light for communications of all kinds.

Following the cosmic challenges of the past eight weeks, this could feel like a welcome relief! The Gemini Waning Moon not only marks the halfway point between the Pisces Full Moon and the September 9 Virgo New Moon, but on a deeper level, it asks us to make sense of all the places we’ve been before we begin to move forward …

///

//The Cycle//
While this Moon marks the halfway point between the recent Full and upcoming New Moons, it also marks a culminating moment going back over two years. Think back (or actually look in your cal or email inbox) to June 4, 2016, when we experienced a New Moon at 14 degrees Gemini. This New Moon seeded what we are seeing come to fruition in our lives now.

Choices made then have profoundly informed where we now find ourselves. Who was in your world? Where were you situated? What were you working on? And what intentions from June 2016 are coming to fruition now? What do you still want and need?Spend some time considering the connection between your present-day reality, and events of June of 2016. Acknowledge the chapter that’s closing, and the fresh beginning you are about to step into with September 9th’s Virgo New Moon.

///

//The Transits//
With Mars and Mercury now direct, and Saturn about to station direct too, forward movement is upon us. However, Venus, the planet ruling love and beauty, stations retrograde on October 5th.So pay close attention to what’s emerging now, as the Gemini Waning Moon foreshadows the Venus Retrograde curriculum.

With Mercury currently in a sextile (supportive aspect) to Venus, and Neptune opposing the Sun and squaring the Gemini Waning Moon (more challenging energies), moments of discomfort could birth intuitive hits about the lessons in love and abundance that you’ll be gifted during the upcoming Venus Retrograde.

///

//The Square//
Mercury rules both Virgo and Gemini, and these mutable signs tend to live in their heads so you could feel a wee bit mental during this Moon. But rather than living in your head, capitalize on the Gemini influence and journal. Think back to 2016, and consider what choices you made then that influence where you are now. If needed, make lists. Be mindful of rumination. Then get out of your head and into your heart.

///

//The Opportunity//
The Gemini Waning Moon is closing an old chapter. So give yourself time and space to appreciate where past challenges have brought you to today, and let your head lead you back to your heart. Getting honest with yourself about your exact wants and desires now will also support you as we move toward next week’s Virgo New Moon. It’s a special one, so you want to be READY!

NUMINOUS TAROTSCOPE AUGUST 30 2018: 4 OF CUPS

As a soul-shaking summer draws to a close, the 4 of Cups invites us to make gentle space for processing heavy emotions, says this month’s reader-in-residence, Mademoiselle DanielleCast using the Dark Days Tarot by Wren McCurdo

THE 2018 PISCES FULL MOON WANTS YOU TO SET SAIL

As practical earth energy meets deep emotional waters, the 2018 Pisces Full Moon invites us to let intuitive waves wash us onto solid, new shores, says Sandy Sitron

Photo: Levi Guzman

Full Moon // August 26, 2018 // 7:56am EDT // 3 degrees Pisces

When a tidal wave washes onto the shore, it changes the landscape. Seashells and debris from the ocean floor are deposited, while the old familiar spaces are rearranged. Boundaries between land and water blur.

On Sunday, August 26th, the watery 2018 Pisces Full Moon strikes a pose opposite to the Sun in earthy Virgo. Earth and water meet. The result offers a choice.

Do we float out into the emotional stratosphere and avoid reality? Conversely, do we get so caught up in our practical needs and mundane existence that we repress our feelings—viewing them as only a hindrance to productivity? Or do we build our earthly lives in alignment with our feelings and intuition?

A Full Moon is an opposition. Two opposite signs are illuminated—Virgo, representing compartmentalizing and organizing, and Pisces, showing us how to dissolve the boundaries.

During Virgo season we have an opportunity to solidify our earthly base. To get grounded. Organize, cleanup, structure, and rearrange. We can streamline and refine our workflows. We are called to take care of our bodies, to connect with nature, and to appreciate the moment. We make ourselves of service. We get to work. We focus on the task at hand.

And yet this weekend there is an offer on the table. An invite has landed on your doorstep to take a ride on a tidal wave.

If you accept, you’ll have to let go and surrender to emotion, while trusting somewhere in the back of your mind that your Virgoan preparation has created a solid enough container for you to completely let go.

Taking an emotional journey can at moments feel like you are being tumbled under water. But maybe you can catch the wave just right and crest high above the horizon line like a surfer. The emotional wave can bring freedom. A new intuitive perspective is available. When we are guided by our intuition, we can break into surprising new territory. The grind begins to feel like flow.

However, it can be hard to go with the current if we feel inherently unsteady. While drifting in the Pisces sea of feeling, Virgo energy can help us stay rooted in the moment. The key is to stay attuned to the body. Pay attention to your physicality and your breath. Meditation is the ultimate tool for at this 2018 Pisces Full Moon. Through attention to the micro (breath and body) the part of you that is pure consciousness can flow into the macro Piscean realm of heightened awareness.

There’s a lot of momentum to this Moon, as it forms a kite with the Sun, Uranus, and Saturn. The energy of a kite takes the solid base of the current earth grand trine (Sun in Virgo, Saturn in Capricorn, and Uranus in Taurus, all at 2 degrees on 8/26) and pushes it into flight. The push is toward emotion and intuition. What have you been building? What are you refining? And now, how do you want it to feel?

This momentum can help us build lives that are fully in alignment with our feelings and intuition. Our empathetic understanding of ourselves as part of something greater. It doesn’t have to happen fast. Nature moves slow. But we can use the energy of this Full Moon to tune into our feelings.

What path will your intuition light up for you? Open yourself to the waves to find out …

///

Full Moon in a kite formation with the Sun, Uranus, and Saturn
Walking along a snowy mountain path, close to the edge.
You are going somewhere. The outlines of the journey aren’t crystal clear. There are moments when it’s hard to see the exact path, but you are still climbing. If you can look up, past trepidation, you might catch quite a view. Spiritual perspective is available, so nudge yourself toward it.

This perspective might filter in through fantasy and dreams. Ideas could drop in while you’re taking a shower or walking the dog. Let yourself be surprised. Because of Uranus’ influence, the path might take surprising turns. If you follow it without compulsively reaching for the map, you’ll open up space for creativity and change.

Saturn’s appearance in the kite formation is represented by the mountain. You’ve been building something all along. Yes, there are surprises and changes because of Uranus. But you are working with a solid base. The mountain is there. All you have to do is climb and trust your path.

SUNFLOWER BEAUTY FOR LEO SEASON

Wanna hang on to the Leo Season vibes a little longer? Eunice Lucero shares her top Sunflower beauty finds to have you shining on long after the Lioness has left the skies …

Photo: Hi Wildflower

Leo Season brings the passionate, slightly #extra drama of Sunflower mythology.

According to Greek myth, the nymph Clytie, scorned lover of the Sun god Helios, resorts to staring at her ex for nine days without food, water, or clothing, in a show of unabashed lovesickness. She pines longingly as he rides by in his chariot, till she dies and is then transformed into a flower—the Sunflower.

Unlike its sad heroine, Sunflower seed oil is no martyr. Long celebrated in beauty circles for its moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits, as well as its heart health and energy boosting properties, Sunflower beauty provides a rainbow of good stuff both inside and out.

What better way to cap off the high summer than with smoother, more nourished skin and hair, increased vitality, to get you looking and feeling at the top of your game come fall?

**We’ve listed Sunflower beauty suggestions for each Leo placement, but these confidence boosters are for everyone. Curious about what planet and /or House Leo rules in your chart? You can do your birth chart HERE for free.

THE GEMINI WANING QUARTER MOON WANTS YOU TO SLOW YOUR ROLL

While the past month’s cataclysmic cosmic shifts may have you wanting to plunge heart first into massive change, slow your roll says Jennifer Racioppi. The Gemini Waning Quarter Moon wants you to listen in for the lessons, check in with your direction, and honor the threshold before you step through the portal …

Art: Seana Gavin

:: Waning Quarter Moon :: September 13 2017 :: 2:24am EST :: 20 degrees Gemini

Listen in closely … Ideas, energy, motivation, and creativity are brewing …

Having just completed Mercury Retrograde, we’ve seen shadows, witnessed truth, and digested reality from a multitude of differing perspectives. And while many of us are feeling the urge to jump into action and to start implementing all the lessons we’ve learned, it’s not quite time yet.

We are inching our way towards next week’s Fall Equinox, when the Sun will shift into Libra and the Earth will reach a point of equanimity, marking a balance between light and dark. But first, we have to ride out the last degrees of the Sun traveling through mutable Virgo, the Gemini Waning Quarter Moon, and a New Moon on the 19th, which ask us to assimilate the impact of the most recent cosmic events so we can launch our lives forward.

This turning point in the year marks a crucial point to check in and affirm our intended direction. And with the Gemini Waning Quarter Moon opposing Saturn, the message is to slow your roll and listen before plunging forward.

Come the next New moon and Equinox, you’ll have some clear, mature, and wise inner guidance to inform your next steps.

>>>

:: The Sun ::
With the Sun at 20 degrees of Virgo squaring Saturn—the planet of lessons, maturity, and growth—the Gemini Waning Quarter Moon has the word “ouch” written all over it.

But, the truth is, Saturn’s position to the Sun offers us the potent medicine of seeing, reconciling, and integrating wisdom. Warning: this is not the time to push forward with an agenda driven by ego. Instead, digest, integrate, and listen to your truth so you can adjust your stance and evolve.

:: The Moon ::
With the Moon in quick witted Gemini, the seduction of speed abounds. However, since this Waning Quarter Moon faces an opposition from serious Saturn, throw on the brakes. Rather than hastily moving forward, tune into Gemini’s secret superpower of *listening* instead.

:: The Square ::
With the Sun in Virgo squaring the Moon in mutable Gemini, making a mutable T-square with Saturn, this Waning Quarter Moon brings up quite a bit to be reconciled.

The upside? Like a grain of sand transforming into an iridescent pearl inside of a mollusk, the pressure of Saturn forces you into your growth. **Pro tip: The more you lean into this, the easier it is.

:: The Message ::
Pause. This Waning Quarter Moon asks that you take time for introspection. Slow down. Look within. Think about what you need to release before plunging forward into your goals.

With a new season around the corner, it’s essential to review where you’ve been. Now’s the time to go slow, and listen, so you don’t miss any of the wisdom coming your way. In another week you’ll be ready to move forward. Until then, do your best to see and hear as much as you can.

A TAROT PRACTICE TO HELP YOU NAVIGATE SEPTEMBER 2017

As we slip into the subtle fall energies of Virgo Season, it’s time to assess our relationship to the earth element and to our core beliefs, says Melinda Lee Holm. Let a tarot practice steer your ship as you navigate September 2017.

A shift in seasons brings profound change this month, as we celebrate personal and community connections, mirror the balance of the cosmos in our earthbound lives, and call in a strong challenge to our beliefs about what is true and eternal.

Let your deck lead the way into fall …

>>>

:: 9/4 Labor Day- 10 of Pentacles ::

While many of us associate this day with one last beach weekend, it was created to honor the courageous men and women who organized labor. We owe our weekends, 8-hour work days, overtime laws, and restrictions on work done by children all to the Labor movement and its belief that a healthy and happy workforce is the cornerstone of a properous community.

The Tarot teaches us that the greatest form of earthly abundance is found not in a single wealthy figure, but in a wealthy society. The 10 of Pentacles represents the highest material aspirations of the minor arcana. We see a thriving community represented in three generations of citizens and two white dogs in a well-groomed city.

Only through valuing every member’s role and contribution can the health and wellbeing of all be maintained.

Calling in the 10 of Pentacles:

  • Eat maple syrup on pancakes, yogurt, or oatmeal – energetically it promotes wealth and longevity
  • Throw a block party or BBQ to connect with your neighbors and community
  • Shop local
  • Give Malachite as a gift – it’s a powerful stone of prosperity

:: 9/10 World Suicide Prevention Day- The Ace of Cups ::

The world can be a very tough place for many people, unbearably so for some. Today we actively send our love and compassion to those who are struggling and those who have been affected by suicide.

The Ace of Cups is the primal power of Water, the element of emotion. Love is the root of our human experience of emotion, and the centerpiece of the Divine gift of an emotional body. The Aces all represent the pure unadulterated state of their element, the most exalted sense of what they represent.

What could possibly be more exalted in the emotional realm than pure unconditional love for our fellow humans?

Calling in the Ace of Cups:

  • Wear or carry a Rhodonite, the stone of outward-directed love and compassion
  • Drink Rose tea to open and expand the heart
  • Donate gently used clothing to a shelter – or better yet, sign up to volunteer!
  • Check in with those you love and let them know you care

:: 9/22 Autumnal Equinox, Sun Enters Libra- Justice ::

As the days and nights equalize in length before the night begins to take over, this cosmic event triggers a shift from the productivity of summer to the harvest of fall, in preparation for the winter.

Justice teaches us that just as truth, fairness, and order, in society and law, require careful weighing of information, achieving fairness and order in the Universe requires a constant careful balancing of energies. To enjoy the long days of summer, we must survive the long nights of winter. To have stamina to be active, we must set aside time for rest.

Calling in Justice:

  • Carry Tiger Eye to promote energetic balance
  • Eat salty/sweet food combinations like prosciutto wrapped melon or potato chips and ice cream
  • Wear mixed metals – Wearing both the silver of the moon and gold of the sun connects us to the balance of the celestial bodies that influence us most
  • Donate to the ACLU
Melinda Lee Holm’s Sigil Collection Suspended Pendant in gold, Ancient Echoes Ring, and Reversible Diamond Band in silver

:: 9/28 Jupiter Opposition Uranus- The Tower ::

Jupiter opposition Uranus happens only once every 12 years and comes in pairs or trios due to apparent retrograde planetary motion. This is the second opposition in our series of two for 2016/17.

Expansive Jupiter in this aspect to rebellious Uranus brings periods of great change on an individual level, sometimes in sudden and uncomfortable ways. But this does not have to be a traumatic time. If we open ourselves up to radical change, we can make the most of this transit.

The Tower is generally seen as one of the most frightening cards in the deck – visually and energetically. It represents major change and teaches us to let go of ALL preconceived notions of the true nature and identity of ourselves and the world around us.

While it may be hard to see in the moment, these changes will always be in service of our highest good. We don’t usually think of The Tower as something we seek to call in intentionally, but with this transit, it is best to get ahead of the game and go with the flow of this potentially challenging aspect.

Calling in The Tower:

  • Drink coffee – coffee beans are used in spellwork to clear negative thinking and assist in breaking through internal barriers
  • Carry or wear Herkimer Diamond to connect to Divine wisdom and strength
  • Clean your space with pine-scented cleanser, or bring pine branches into your home to promote a clean break from past beliefs and a strong fresh start
  • Burn a black candle – black candles are very effective for clearing energetic blockages and can be a huge help in loosening your attachment to any of your own personal Towers that are ready to come down

PISCES FULL MOON LUAR ECLIPSE :: OVERVIEW

A whisper. A quiet murmur. Full Moons are usually loud and all fired up with the light of the Sun. Yet this Full Moon is a quiet and gentle offering that echoes through the mist. The whisper comes from your intuition. It says: look more closely, listen more closely, slow down, grow quiet. Let yourself dissolve.

This Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will offer many moments where you may want to instinctually push forward. Choose instead to step back. See what happens if you step away instead of push. If you meet a force, avoid the collision by bowing down and creating a blessing in your heart. If you are in right mind, you don’t have to be right. You can just be. Be connected to all things.

The Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse brings us a heightened sense of spiritual connection, along with a heightened desire to improve our physical experience through purification and service. It is here to let us know we are making progress in this, and to provide us with an opportunity to start fresh in these pursuits. We reset our intentions once more.

Every eclipse marks a time to reset. This one is in the sign of Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac. Pisces is the container that holds the wisdom and lessons of all the other signs. It is the summary. As is the number 9 in numerology—and this Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse happens right in the middle of the 2016 999 portal (9/9—9/27). And so, at this time, we come to the end of a long story about human struggle and growth. We pause here. We listen. We wait. And as we begin again, something is very different.

:: THE ASPECTS AT PLAY ::

Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse
The crow looks you in the eye and says “Don’t forget.”

Don’t forget what? Your humanity. Your desire to improve the physical world. (Virgo Sun) And your spiritual oneness with all that is. Your perfection in simply being. (Pisces Moon)

A Full Moon happens when the Moon is opposite the Sun. The Moon is in Pisces and the Sun is in Virgo. All Full Moons help us create greater awareness in our lives. The awareness we are learning now is about the balance between the physical world and the spiritual world. These are two sides of one ideal. Virgo teaches us how to improve our physical realm. Pisces teaches us how to improve our spiritual understanding—the understanding that we are already perfect.

The Virgo Sun asks you to get really tuned into your body. Do good things for your health. Eat right. Exercise. Meditate. And then do good things for your world. Offer small and big acts of service. Keep your body and mind active by helping others. The Pisces Moon encourages you to empathize and feel. Listen to and process your feelings. Remind yourself that you are loved. Remind yourself that you are connected.

Points of tension can arise when two luminaries oppose each other. The Virgo Sun is concerned with the details and can get caught up in analysis. The Pisces Moon has such deep emotions that empathy can overwhelm. If this happens it can become easy to slip away, like a fish. During this Full Moon, we have energy to define, yet a need to dissolve.

To create balance, we can slow down and make space. Lengthen the amount of time between action and emotional reaction with a mindfulness practice. Listen to your breathing. Slow down and grow quiet to allow the voice of the crow to come through. He may prompt you again. “Don’t forget.”

Don’t forget your humanity.
Don’t forget your spirit.

Who is the crow?

The crow is associated with life’s mysteries, with magic and transformation. He is also the embodiment of the trickster. This is very apropos for Pisces. With the current aspects, it is hard to know what is real and what is not. True clarity comes from deep within. Follow your intuition. Watch the crow for clues, as all the animals do. The crow will nudge you in the right direction if you slow down and grow quiet enough to interpret his voice.

The takeaway
Virgo Sun: Act in ways that are good for your body and your world. Think about purification and service.
Pisces Moon: Connect with your spirituality. Listen to your intuition. Feel all your feelings. Empathize.

***

Sun and Moon in T-square with Mars
The deer runs from the hunter.

This is a dance, and an inevitable point of tension. Are you the deer? Tuned-in, agile, instinctual, pure, innocent. Or are you the hunter? Focused. Confrontational. Taking conscious action. Hungry.

You will be both in this T-square configuration. You will be asked to form opinions that are like arrows. You will be asked to dissolve those same opinions if necessary, and rush to the cover of another tree. You will find the same benefit from putting your opinions forward and from being open-minded.

This mutable square reminds that adaptation is the goal. There are always new levels of understanding to be reached and improvements to be made. Be wary of over-exertion, yet harness your drive to explore and take risks. Keep navigating toward the result that you desire. Stay out of conflicts. (This may be hard.) But remain confrontational with yourself. Ask yourself questions. Form opinions. Hunt out your truth. Push yourself out of your comfort zone.

And at the same time acknowledge your true perfection. Be gentle with yourself. Remember your innocent and singular childhood purpose—to be alive.

The takeaway
Use Mars in Sagittarius energy to help you define your opinions, but don’t get caught up in unnecessary conflict.

***

Full Moon Conjunct Chiron
The clock chimes.

Time passes and feelings that were once too difficult to process bubble back up to the surface. This moment offers us another chance to heal. This is a chance for many of us to reprocess the past. Sometimes we must experience challenging emotions in order to process them. Encourage yourself to feel all of your feelings.

You may feel very tender. If you feel especially tender, think about why. Are you being reminded of a much older wound? Monitor your reactions. If you have an emotional reaction that you can safely say is out of proportion to what is going on, note that you are being triggered. Think back to the first time that you had the feeling you are having. Maybe there is a clue as to what is triggering you. Or ask yourself where the feeling is located in your body. That information may provide a different clue.

With Pisces, the tendency is to get overwhelmed by feeling and to try to distract away from it. This Full Moon would be the right time to watch what you reach for when you want to distract yourself. Just watch. Common things that we reach for are: drugs, alcohol, sex, disordered eating, work, TV, video games, social media, the internet, or talking too much. The list goes on, to include anything that is habitual for you and distracts you from your feelings.

All you have to do here is notice. If you are reaching around for different distractions, take it as a chance to interview yourself about your current emotional state. Ask, “What am I feeling?” “Where is the feeling located in my body?” “When was the first time I had this feeling.” Or, “Am I lonely?” “Am I sad?” “Am I angry?” “Am I afraid?” Dig in to these feelings as far as you can. The clock is chiming and it is time to process the feelings of the past.

The takeaway
Feelings may come up that are lingering from past wounds. Process them fully.

***

In summary, at this Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, it is time to end one chapter and begin the next. It is time to reset. Honor your humanity and your spirituality. Work to improve, but remind yourself that everything is already perfect. Take care of your body and listen to your intuition. Form and defend your opinions, but don’t get caught up in conflict that doesn’t serve your highest purpose. Seek cathartic healing of old wounds, so that you can move fully into the next phase.

GASTROLOGY: A RECIPE FOR VIRGO SEASON

A unconventional lentil soup is the perfect recipe for Virgo season…Concept and styling: Georgia Ashdown, Dish Pig; Words: Mojave Rising; Recipe: Alex Watts, Dish Pig; Image: Chris Chen

Virgo season conjures careful concoctions, herbaceous blends, process-based cooking, and the delicious sensation of detoxification. The zodiac’s most meticulous minx invites us to break out our measuring cups and to revel in acts of sorting, discerning, and finely chopping.

It’s a month to celebrate how singular flavors contribute to the integrity of the whole, hearty stew of being human, and how complex proportions demonstrate that in doing the difficult work we are sumptuously rewarded for our care.

We’ve chosen a spicy, delightfully intricate yet simple, sweet and sour soup for Virgo season—perfect for channeling the earthy goodness inside masked by outer complexity. There’s also the collisions between perfectly proportioned piles and the glorious moment of blending, where we let distinction merge with the world as it is and serve it on up.

Astrology’s so-called “virgin” is actually a wild, witchy woman who lives by her own code and gathers provisions for a proprietary brew befitting a self-contained queen of everyday alchemy. Her soup is for celebrating each piece of ourselves: from the tangy lime cheeks, to the sweet, sweet coconut cream on top!

RECIPE FOR VIRGO SEASON :: SWEET AND SOUR LENTIL SOUP

serves 4-6

Chefs notes ~ with the addition of some a dollop of coconut cream and harissa this soup can really come to life.

1 red onion diced
1 red capsicum, charred and peeled
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground tumeric
1 tsp ground coriander
100ml grapeseed oil
600g Kumera diced approx. 1cm
4 ripe tomatoes diced
2 garlic cloves sliced
1 long red chilli, de-seeded and sliced
1tbs tamarind pulp
100 ml boiling water
1 tbs vegan fish sauce
½ tsp tumeric
1 cup Red Lentils, soaked
1.5litres veg stock
1 handful chopped coriander
1 handful shallot (scallion) rounds
2 Lime cheeks

Wash the lentils under cold water, and repeat three times then strain off the water.

Soak the tamarind pulp in boiling water and pass through a sieve to remove seeds.

In a heavy based saucepan, fry the onions and garlic in grape seed oil until, soft but not coloured. Add the chilli & spices and cook for a further 5 mins stirring constantly. Add the kumera, red lentils, tomato, tamarind, red capsicum and veg stock. Cook until the Kumera just begins to soften and remove from heat.

Season with fish sauce, chopped herbs and serve with a grilled lime cheek.

:: MONDAY ::
A reiki session with Jessica Brodkin—an energy healer I met recently who used to work for the CIA, and does stand-up comedy on the side. My kinda Material / Mystical gal! And as well laying like a TON of crystals on me (including a perfectly clear quartz Ganesh on my second chakra), what I loved about the way Jessica works is that she also provided a running commentary about what was going on. I really love the concept of reiki—a mystical healing energy that we can all learn how to channel? Yes please!—but since the effects are so subtle I can often leave a session wondering, did anything just happen?!

But as Jessica got my chakras spinning (fave takeaway: “I’m not sure how to describe this except to say your sacral chakra is now looking on fleek”), she also spoke highly intuitively about issues I’m currently facing, gave a cool book recommendation, suggested some crystals for me to work with, and helped me say a forgiveness prayer. Overall, I left feeling like I’d had a total energetic tune-up. Find out more about Jessica and book a session at Loveandlightservices.com

:: TUESDAY ::

Club SÖDA NYC! Biet Simkin and I had an amazing turn-out for our second big Soda event, which (of course) we had timed specifically to coincide with the Sun’s move into Virgo—sign of health, wellbeing, and service. This is the month to really connect to the concept of how a healthy body and mind allows us to most efficiently show up and do our dharma. And, as we head towards next Thursday’s Virgo New Moon, now is the perfect time to let any and all unhealthy habits (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual!) just fall way.

The 9/1 New Moon is also a solar eclipse AND Mercury will have just gone retrograde. Add in a formidable T-square (the Moon, Sun, Mercury and North Node in Virgo will square Mars and Saturn in Sag, and oppose Neptune in Pisces) we are talking some intensely karmic and unpredictable REBIRTH energy out there. I for one intend to be clean and clear and fully on my A-game!

:: WEDNESDAY ::
Some of my most mystical moments are found in the experience of deep, soul connection with my fellow humans. Doesn’t it feel like MAGIC when that chemistry happens? In love, at work, and in our most precious friendships. I took two hours out for lunch today with a friend who makes me feel that way—and time stopped, the cosmos aligned, and it fed me more than a thousand hours of reiki. Heaven on earth.

:: THURSDAY ::
OMG. Got news that Cara Delevigne and her sister Poppy have ordered two of our Vinyasa sweatshirts to take to Burning Man. That is all.

In fact, for all you Burners out there, may I point you in the direction of some Numinous reading for your journey to the Playa. See you there next year!
