With her new book, Who Is Wellness For?, acclaimed With her new book, Who Is Wellness For?, acclaimed writer and poet @fariha_roisin explores how the progressive health industry has appropriated and commodified global healing traditions—and who has been left out of conversations about what it means to be “well” in the process. "Since the age of about four, my body has been revolting in one way or another—yet the medical world very rarely gave me true understanding of the language of my body," she writes. "The more this happened, the uglier I became to myself. This created a cycle of abstraction. Over time I couldn’t recognize who I was anymore because I had no mirrors, so the easiest thing to accept was that I wasn’t worth living, that my very life was purposeless, so I had to find some source of purpose, some source of life." Beautiful words with a powerful message ⚡#whoiswellnessfor
Cancerian writer Octavia E. Butler (June 22, 1947) Cancerian writer Octavia E. Butler (June 22, 1947) also had Mercury in Cancer, almost exactly conjunct her Ascendent: writing and communicating her most deeply felt impressions of the world is who she was. Butler's Leo Moon was also exactly sextile Uranus in Gemini, which speaks to her ability to confidently conjure whole new worlds and reshape the lanscape of possibility with her words 🌙 #octaviabutler #writingquotes #numinousbooks
Cancer Season brings an annual invitation to shelt Cancer Season brings an annual invitation to shelter in place with our deepest, most sensitive feelings … which is many a-writer's favorite place to be! In fact, most good writing, the sort of writing that touches others deeply, lies in an ability to articulate a numinously felt experience in words. This requires an ability to feel deeply into the world, which, in turn, is often the result of slowing down and touching base with our inner landscape, whatever that process looks like for us. This is also a time to be thinking about how the work we do behind-the-scenes is equally important as our efforts in the public sphere. Something any writer will be familiar with, since writing a book is 90% quiet, private, unseen labor. In fact, a book is like an ice-berg; every one of the millions of books that are released each year represents literally thousands of back-of-house hours spent researching, thinking, writing, and editing on behalf of the author <3 ✨ Tag somebody who needs these reminders - and sign up for our newsletter for monthly writing inspo and advise from @rubywarrington. Gemini poet and author Nikki Giovanni (June 7, 194 Gemini poet and author Nikki Giovanni (June 7, 1943), has her Sun exactly conjunt Saturn in the twelfth house. A Sun/Saturn conjunction suggests a fierce determination to fulfill her mission is in this life - and the placement in the 12th lends this a karmic, spiritual quality. As if spirit is speaking through her words. Giovanni also has her Moon conjunt Pluto AND Lilith in the second house. An intense emotional combo, that she has chanelled into her writing. There will be no hiding from one's inner world, and ones awareness of and contact with life's shadow, with this aspect, which also trines Mars in Aries in Giovanni's chart, giving it extra heat. Happy belated to a true living legend <3
Gemini Season arrives on the heels of a pretty int Gemini Season arrives on the heels of a pretty intense pair of eclipses this year—namely, the April 30 Solar eclipse in Taurus, and the May 16 Lunar eclipse in Scorpio.
Are you feeling the shifts?
What has made these two eclipses extra-powerful, is that they have been conjunct the North and South nodes of the Moon. This means that whatever has transitioned in your world over the past weeks—it is part of your karmic destiny.
Now, the Sun's transit through the sign of Gemini is asking you to stay curious about what is unfolding in the wake of any changes that have rocked your world (in subtle and not-so-subtle ways). Does your mantra resonate for where you're at? Tag somebody who needs theirs! ✨
