Hopping on here to alert your attention to this ve Hopping on here to alert your attention to this very important new release (alllll activity happening over @rubywarrington - pls follow me over there if you don’t already!) Not having been raised with much religious programming, I was unaware of the myth of Lilith until I meet Adama Sesay @earth2adama @lilithastrology In the Bible, Lilith was the first woman, created from the dust alongside Adam as his equal. She was cast out of Eden after she refused to submit to him - specifically to lie beneath him and bear his children. Her banishment paved the way for the more submissive Eve, created from Adam’s rib. We know what happened there. As for Lilith? She spent the rest of her days seducing demons and “birthing” thousands of creative offerings every day. Unsurprisingly, as a woman without kids, she is also often depicted as a demon herself. You can probably guess which feminine archetype I relate more strongly to 😈 And well, in astrology, the position of a point known as Black Moon Lilith, shows where in our lives our personal power has been suppressed and where we may have hidden our true desires to avoid ridicule or abandonment. This placement is the focus of Adama’s work, and her new book - out this week! - is a practical guide to how to understand and work with your Lilith placement. There’s a beautiful Oracle deck too, with art by @ig_fama 💫
Adama’s teachings about my 5th House Lilith in Taurus sparked a massive “aha” for me this week - which I can already feel reverberating in my life, as I get more conscious to the limits my inherited financial insecurity has placed on my creative expression, and why 🌈 Pick up the book + deck if this resonates with you! 🔥
Do you have a book in you that’s waiting to be w Do you have a book in you that’s waiting to be written, but don’t know where to start? Check out our list of publishing services at the link in bio 🌈 The quote is from @veschwab whose novel, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, shows the pain of not being seen, known, and remembered💜💜💜 #writinglife
So much of my work as a writer has been about help So much of my work as a writer has been about helping people - beginning with myself - to feel less WEIRD. About not fitting in. About having a woo-woo side. About not wanting what other people want. About going against conventions. About questioning the status quo. And not because I’m a rebel. But because I cannot bear the discomfort of pretending to be something I’m not. Of living a life that is not for me. Of not saying what I see; and of not following my curiosity. When I started The Numinous ten years ago, I was i When I started The Numinous ten years ago, I was in the grips of a deep existential angst. I had ticked so many boxes marked “success,” but I was deeply confused + unhappy, self medicating with alcohol, drugs + consumerism. I felt a strong pull to the mystical arts, primarily astrology, as a way to know myself + my place in the world on a deeper level. This platform became a space to explore it all. It turned out many others were also on this path + I documented what I came to term this “now age” renaissance in my first book, Material Girl, Mystical World. It quickly became apparent that the way I was using alcohol was preventing me from going deeper. I coined the term “Sober Curious” to describe my process for reevaluating my relationship to booze - leading to my second book. Removing alcohol brought the clarity I needed to write in my third, Women Without Kids. Other people had always demanded to know: “why don’t you want kids?” One answer—“I just don’t”—had always been enough for me. But now I had some questions of my own: “why was it that my other desires for my life were not seen as equally valid? Why was the cost of raising a child so steep? Why was the love I felt for my husband + my friends not the same as the “real” love I was told I would feel for my child? And if my choice did make me selfish + neurotic, then what was the root of these neuroses?” Writing the book, and answering these questions for myself, has brought me to the place of inner peace I had been looking for all along. This is why: Numinous Books. Since childhood, books have been a source of solace and inspiration for me. The evolution of this platform reflects my personal evolution as a seeker of life’s deeper truths. Going forward, I will be using this page to share outtakes from works that speak to the numinous parts of me.
